Default First time in the 11's, not happy though....

Went to the track last night with my new setup. Cam is a comp 232/238 595/605 112+2, heads are Z06 243's, and the converter is an FTI 3800 I believe. It's supposed to be pretty tight up top for good mph.

Here is a breakdown of my run:
60'-1.731
330'-4.951
1/8 ET-7.656
1/8 MPH-89.86
1000'-10.005
1/4 ET-11.983
1/4 MPH-114.11

Seems like it should be running better. Any ideas on why it's barley breaking the 12.0 mark? I launched around 1700 on this run. Tried once around 2000 and ran the same et with a 1.74 60'. Also, on one of the runs I noticed when the car went into 3rd I sat on the converter for a second before it started pulling again.

60 ft does seem a little off, would think it should pull at least mid 1.6s. 1/8 mph looks a little low for h/c car, is the car tuned?

Where did you run? What date? What time? The 60 is soft, what tires? You bring the 60' down and you will improve your ET but the MPH will likely not change much. MPH is not too low...maybe 90 or 91 with and A4 in the 1/8th with a H/C car (considering that is not one of the wild sized cams in the high 230s/240s).

It was at gateway Friday night. Temps were all the way down in the high 40's I think. It's tuned and I was running ET street radials.

it has to be something in your tune that could be off. shifts points could be set to low . also try to lower your tire pressure down to at least 16 lbs. i wish i could catch some cool nights up here in VA.

First run tires were at 16, then I felt a slight spin so I knocked them down to 14 and it felt fine.

Ported 243s? Where are you shifting at? Otherwise, the smaller, tight converter is killing your setup imo, unless you plan on spraying a nice size shot in the future. You mentioned the converter sat in 3rd a sec before pulling. That's a symptom of too much shift recovery/extension. What are the rpms dropping down to after shifting? 230+ high lift cams love 4000+ stall converters. Better 60's, Higher shift extension (less drop between shifts) = more mph depending on the efficiency of the converter.

I had the same problem earlier this year. Dropped the stall size, 60', mph ALL took a dump. Put a used 4000 stall in, 60' back in the 1.5s, dropped a 1/2 second, gained 3 mph. Did pretty good on the bottle too.

Yeah I was thinking about sending it back and having it loosened up a little bit. I am thinking about swapping up my cam for the EPS 222/226 595/597 on like a 115 LSA. If I did swap to that cam, should I keep my converter the way it is since the cam will be smaller?

If everything else is ok on your car (tranny, tune, etc), I would keep the bigger cam and get the converter reflashed/loosened to a 4000+.. I hear FTI converters are pretty efficient.

Yeah they're pretty efficient. I ran my friend with an SS4000, MS3, and 243's from a 40 roll and slowly pulled away from him even though his cam is a little bigger than mine. I'm thinking of going to the smaller cam because I kind of like the more stealth approach and people are making big power with those EPS lobes. We'll have to see if my wallet can back it up though. Really the only reason I'm running that cam is because I got the cam, heads, and push rods for $750 and didn't have any money to get a different cam.
