Default V6 Turbo S10 Ran 11's!

I know this isn't an LS1 or LS anything, but thought I would share anyway.

Turned up the boost a couple pounds from last time out and ran a lot faster than I was expecting. My previous best run was 12.2 @ 114 with 14 psi or so.

Stock long block 4.3l vortec V6
GT3582R turbo @ 16 psi
4L60E trans with shift kit
Running e85
Tuned by myself with hptuners
Instagram @turbo_v6

Timeslip info:

60 FT - 1.7943
330 FT - 5.0121
1/8 ET - 7.7099
1/8 MPH - 93.73
1000 ET - 10.0116
1000 MPH - 106.79
1/4 ET - 11.9390
1/4 MPH 117.86

Also took it to a dyno day the next day and put down 356whp and 450wtq @ 13.5 psi

Video of the run:

I love this little truck and I can't wait to see what I will do with it next.

Those Vortec heads are awesome. Congrats!

But, man does that thing need a cam - revs lower than a Turbo Buick V6.

Haha, I just looked at the dyno sheet. 450whp@ 3700rpm on a mustang dyno ain't bad at all! But yeah, that thing needs to be revved out more.

i wish it was 450whp. It's 450 torque and only 356 horsepower.

Big torque down low was what I expected. It would be great to put a cam and ported heads on it, but I'm not sure how far I want to take it.

That's what I get for not paying attention. Anyway, that's a torque monster for a v6.

I'm confused by your apprehension to cam it... you've already turned an s10 into a turbo drag truck. Why not put the right cam in there? It doesn't need to be some high lift monster cam--just something that doesn't peak at 4500rpm and can take advantage of the top end power potential. The heads seem to be flowing fine.

No I didn't.

I've done a bunch of supporting modifications and tuning, but the hot and cold side piping was done very well.

I really would like to put a cam in it, but I think the heads are also a restriction. I'm not sure how much I could gain with it, and there aren't a lot of people doing this to a 4.3l vortec v6 so I don't have anything to compare to.

With forced induction, heads are less of an issue. It's your cam that's holding you back now.

Yeah, I don't know much about engine building so thanks for the info.

Maybe I'll work on putting a cam in it this winter when I have the downtime.

The intake manifold is a marine manifold from a mercruiser boat motor. That allows me to run some siemens deka 80lb injectors. I'm runnnig them at 4 bar of fuel pressure and hitting roughly 70% IDC at 16 pounds of boost on E85

Well, I've improved by 6 tenths in 2 years with only tuning changes.

First run was ~14 psi and second run was at ~17 psi

This winter I'm planning on upgrading the cam and valve springs.

I mean this is honestly pretty cool man! It’s nice seeing something different like this and not the same old. Congrats on the new times and very impressive that it’s still holding together! I guess they are tougher motors then I thought lol

I'm seeing visions of an LS turbocharged S10 in my head right now! Nicely done Bubba!

There's was a guy back home who had a big tire Chevy Luv with a BBC stuffed under the hood that really turned some heads. Little trucks are great for Pro Street and drag racing machines.

Nice truck! I agree with the cam. You could put something in that wouldn’t effect drive ability at all while extending your power band.

Converter > cam

Ive pretty much never seen a cam worth having not affect drivability at all.

But rockers on that thing, ewp and a converter to use that 450wtq (with traction of course) and i bet he could make it run 10s.

I have a 2800-3000 (unknown from previous owner) stall converter already.

Electric Water Pump? I would like this for other reasons, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference in my E.T.

The main reason I think a cam would make a huge difference is because I can't use that 450wtq. That dyno pull was from when I was still learning, so those dyno pulls are with the converter locked and a bit misleading.

At the strip I launch at around 3000 rpm with about 6 psi of boost and within 1 second I'm at 4500rpm so I really don't use that area of the dyno chart. And I'm not at full boost until about 1.5 seconds.

I went back to the dyno at the beginning of September to try and do some tuning and cleaned it up a bunch. I have a couple things left in my bag for this year, so hopefully I can make it out to the track again before the season is over.
