Default ls7 clutch kit questions

i have a 2002 camaro ss, i am looking to get a new clutch and flywheel for it, i dont need anything special cause i don't do hard launches.....i've decided from a recent forum to go with an ls7 clutch kit....i was wondering though that 1) is a ls7 clutch kit too big for an ls1 stock engine and trans? and 2) where is the best place to pick up one of those kits?

No. It'll be fine. I did mine two summers ago and love it. My car only has a cat back and k&n on it. No racing, just spirited street driving. I ordered mine from Scoogin-Dickey. I've always had good experiances with them, and my orders have to come all the way to Alaska. There new kit even comes with new flywheel bolts which is nice. I also did a new slave and master cyl. Because I feel it was cheap insurance and as far as I knew original with 64,??? miles on it.

I did mine with 112k on the stock clutch luckily. They mate up fine and absolutely impressed with it. I would say Byunspeed and SDPC also. You have a 02 which has the better slave on it but would replace it anyway for good insurance like Frozen WS6. The only down fall to the kit is swapping to the LS2 flywheel which comes with it. It is heavier than hell compared to the stock LS1 fly for sure. I don't remember the weight differences but the clutch/pressure plate strength more than makes up for weight in my honest opinion.

I went to order an LS7 clutch kit from SDPC but they were out of pressure plates.

Scoggin Dickey. It will work fine. How many miles on the car? If it's a higher mileage car, you'll want to do the master, slave, and pilot bearing as well.

I plan to get the LS7 Clutch as well. I was wondering if there is an after market LS2 lightweight flywheel?
