Default better than I expected!

We have crappy air here so I really didn't even think I'd run a 12 at the last race of the season. Borrowed a set of 17x11.5 ET Streets from a buddy and the best it would do was a 14.36@97 on motor w/ 2.20 60ft's. Put a 100 shot to it last night and it only ran 13.44@104 with a 2.16- 60.

I had been launching 'easy', letting it get going before I floored it to arm the nitrous. I have the stock 10 bolt so I was a little worried! Don't know if it was the 125 shot I put to it today [probably not] or the fact that I decked it right out of the hole but it ran better than I thought. Here's my numbers:

60ft.-1.79
1/8 -8.07@86mph
1/4 -12.66@106mph

I'm sure the 125 shot helped a little bit, it ran 2 mph faster than the 100 shot gaining me almost 10mph over all motor. I'm happy with those numbers for a DD that only has a lid and 125 shot but not happy for long! LT's and full exhaust is 1st on the list and a buddy has a good deal on an LS6 mainfold. But I see a high stall converter, H/C and 11's by next year!

- I guess the "gas" is good for something other than running off people

Nice run. You can change your title by submitting your request according to the sticky at the top of this Section.

Congrats
David

Yea, I would rather have 15'' DR's instead of the 17'' ET streets, but since my buddy let me borrow them 'beggers can't be choosers! I'm gonna get some 15'x10 Prostars for next season.

I do want a stall but I don't think I wanna go that high with it since it is my DD. I drive in town mostly and still want to get decent mileage. I'm thinking I want to keep it around 3000...maybe 3500 but I'd have to hear that mileage wouldn't suffer too bad. I know it ain't a Honda but I don't want to get less than around 16mpg, my dually almost gets that!

the Yank 3200 is in mine and 3.73 and as long as i stay out of it and keep rpm's at 2000 (60mph) it get good bang for the buck.

That's one of the coverters I was looking at, don't think I would go higher. I have the stock 3.23 gears getting 16mpg around town. What do you get around town? I know with your 3.73's it'll be a little worse, just wanting to know for comparison. Also cuz I'm thinking of putting some 3.73's in!!

14.36@97 on motor w/ 2.20 60ft's. Put a 100 shot to it last night and it only ran 13.44@104 with a 2.16- 60.

60ft.-1.79
1/8 -8.07@86mph
1/4 -12.66@106mph

Ok so you went from a 14.36 @ 97 put only a 100 shot and you ran 1 second faster and trappped 7 miles more an hour..... thats ******* good ....simple for the fact your running slicks and you knocked of a 1 second just on 100 shot

but now your posting 12.66 @ 106 how did you go for 13.44 to 12.66 almost 1second again and only trapping 2 miles more an hour........ive never seen that before.... ?

just asking

I didn't think I would have gone much quicker than a 12.90 either, that's why it's titled 'better than I expected'. But read the post again with my 60ft's.

Late Sat. night it was COLD out and they don't prep the track as good for TNT's. I was not shooting it out of the hole so it was getting 2.1+ 60's. Sunday the sun was out and they prep the track better. Shot it out of the hole and it got nearly 4 tenths better 60ft. That's about 8 tenths on the big end there, sometimes more.

I'm sure the extra 25 shot also helped. At least I think that's how much I raised it. I have the NOS kit and it says 100hp with 2 .032 jets. I upped them to .036. Also the bottle pressure was a little below 900 when it was cold Sat. night but a little above 900 on Sunday. Sometimes it's all the little things that add up. Believe me, I was a little surprised it picked up that much also. Had to double check I got the right ticket, correct lane.... etc!

I drive around town in the 3rd position and it helps out with the mpg. And from stock to 3.73 the difference in mpg was not noticed at all. Who says you cant have your cake and eat it to.
