slightly worse DA ( density altitude) could surely explain a 1 mph lower speed also . If your not real familiar with da get familiar so you can tell what days should provide more power - its all basic weather: temperature , barometric pressure , humidity

You shouldn't need spacers depending on which wheels you're using, and if you do make sure to be careful you don't snap a stud.
You should have gone faster with that setup. I'm going to assume that you put a taller tire on it than stock, which is going to hurt you. Like I said before, you need a stall.
What wheels/tires are they, and did you try stalling the car up a bit?
