Slicks pricing?
I run a 26 in. Hoosier dr2 on 17's and have no problem dead hooking 1.5x 60's @ 18 psi.

They are cheaper than Mickey's, hook better than the et street and are 5+ lbs lighter per tire.

I like the lighter tire, stock dia, and grip most of all! 275/40-17's but ordered the Nitto NT05R's, couldn't justify the extra $140 or for the Hoosiers. I'll be driving them on the street, so prefer the better street manners and the wife borrows the SS every so often. Wife is a savvy shopper, she went through ebates (5% back) going though Walmart, and used Walmart promo/discount code for more reduction; $360 with free shipping too!

Thanks to all for the input.
Mike

Pulled front sway today, broke one end link bolt, and had to use cut off wheel on one of the mount bolts, guessing about 5 to 8 lbs off the nose, and much better weight transfer which should help lower the 60' below 2.00, and lower that ET a bit also. Does anyone make some quick disconnects for the front sway bar endlinks for the front sway bar?

Planning to hit Mason-Dixon Dragway this coming Saturday the 31st. Still shooting for that 1st 12.99 or better... Hoping the drag radials arrive Friday, so I have a chance to get them on before Saturday morning.

No, and hopefully I won't regret it. Went with Nitto NT05R's, great price for the pair(saved about $140 vs DR2's) leaving some to look or a spare set of either front skinny rims or rear 17'x9' rims, also every so often the wife drives my SS, so need to keep it on the civil and safe side as she drives the grandkids to and from school when her Navigator is in the shop. Sacrifices, small sacrifices...

Those are a nice radial. You will like them. You do still have to be careful on the highway in the rain with them tho.

Edit: radial ( lol )

Passing your front end at highway speeds, interesting, but not much fun. Never drive it in the rain, just will need to make sure if the wifey ever has to she takes it real e-a-s-y...
Thanks for the reminder. Past wet weather on M&H's back in late 80's coming back from the drag strip, was in the passing lane going around someone and was hyproplanning bad, saw the guy in the travel lane straight in front of me, while I passed him doing 65 in the passing lane, wife and kids in the car too! I got real lucky, straightened it out ,got over into the passing lane, and drove under 50 the rest of the way home. The guy in the travel lane's face was priceless, complete Shock! I still laugh about it as does my wife!

Near slicks, not made for wet roads... DR's in the Dry Only for me, got lucky once, not going to press me luck again!

There's me with the m&h dr in the rain. They would be great for a auto.

Me and a buddy was at dixon last weekend. I may go shake my car down in a week or 2.

Nice! M&H's in the rain... Like running across thin ice... You just never know when you're heading for a *******! LOL

Yeah, this Saturday is forecasting am rain. So it may be the following Saturday or Sunday. Which will be alright with me, plenty of time to get the Drag Radials swapped onto my rims... Need to pick up a spare set so I can do a wheel/tire swap easier.

If I can't find decent 17x9's then I may look for a set of skinnies for the front, and drop a little nose weight. Also looking into a rear mount battery kit to move some weight where it'll actually do some good!

Look forward to meeting at the track. Then you can explain the whole "Hio Grand Poobah" thing to me.

Updated forecast looks good for this Saturday, near 60 and sunny...
Trying to talk a few folks from work into bringing out their toys; '17 Mustang GT, '16 SRT-8 Challenger, '10 Jeep SRT-8 Hennessey, '99 Firebird. Not sure who'll show.
Hoping the Drag Radials are here Thursday, so I can get em mounted and ready to go for Saturday.

Bummed... 13.11 @ 105.1 was best of the 4 runs. Yes Temps were about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than previous best 13.08 @ 106.55 (2.00 60' times on street tires) but didn't think the temp / DA difference would be enough to slow me 1 to 2ths and 1 to 1.5 mph! NT-05R's and pulled front sway bar did both work as expected (front end lifting much more than before - see picture), hooked well with 20psi, 1.95 60'.
Are these LS1's really that finicky to weather?

Guess to get the first 12, I'll need temps below 50, or else go ahead and install the headers and Y-Pipe, then retune... Followed with the Intake and 92mm TB... Tired of playing around a tenth at a time! Frustrated at the moment...

Mines never been very finicky on weather. Realistically you aren't even in the realm of needing a tune. Shoukda left the tune stock at this point.

The added body motion could've slowed you if it wasn't needed for traction. And at 2.0 60' it wasn't needed.

I'm starting to think you're right about the tune, only did minor tweaks, adjusted Fan on/off, shift point to 6k for each gear, and reduced TQ Mgmt. Nothing of any significance really.

Kumho's were spinning pretty good launching at 1,200 rpm, with the DR's getting that up towards limit of the stock convertor w/o spin (1800 rpm). Power was definitely down, or sure felt like it. Will throw the stock tune back in for next trip... See if I'm slowing it or not with my home-brewed tune.

Thanks for the input!

Well....i thought you had a m6 car. Their stock tune can take them a ling way.

So a decent tune reducing tm would benefit you. You can also quicken shifts.

I didn't think there was a difference between the engine tunes for Auto's vs Manuals...
Yup, reduced TM, increased shift pressure from 90 to 96 (safe but quicker), and other sound changes to the A4 Trans settings. Seems like it agrees with 6000 rpm 1-2 shifts, wondering if 6k is better/worse for 2-3 though... Tough to tell, and not enough runs made to see any difference.
I made up another version of my current tune, but plugged in the factory settings for Fuel, Advance, PE, and VE. Next day at the track will run at least twice with each.
Also need to try and flash the convertor instead of pwr braking it. Only got in 4 runs Saturday, Weather was a little too nice... really brought out the crowd!

as long as its dead hooking or single rotation quick spin flashing the convertor will help

Thanks, will definitely be giving that a try next weekend (weather be nice!)... Is that flash best completely off idle, or hold pwr brake at 1,000 to 1,200?
With the front sway removed, and the NT-05R's on the back, getting much better traction and weight transfer, hooking up real well.

This was my wife's old B4C (full weight car). Basically free mods, cat deletes, cut out, tune, and 4.10s... stock 4L60E and stock converter. The car was pretty much optimized - but the gears made all the difference.

You'll get there.

Thanks, appreciate the encouragement!
Nice ride, Yeah' I can imagine 4.10's would really wake it up. Headers on it then?

I've gotta get the L/T Headers and ORY installed in the next month...
Then I can focus on the intake and TB swap.

Plan is to go again next Saturday/Sunday... Trying to get the 60' down lower than 1.95, will try flashing the stock converter since the DR's are sticking good.
