Default what the hell?? 13.71???

Can somebody please give me some advice on what the hell is goin on? I took my car (01 ws6 m6 vert) to the track for the first time last week. I pulled of a whopping 13.71. This was on street tires, full interior, no weight reduction, and a whole lot of gas in the tank( i didnt plan on going that morn. when i gassed up). With a 2.1x 60 ft and a trap of 105 mph. This was the best of 4 runs. Now, I know alot of people will say driver error, not here. I have had sticks all my life. It took me a pass to nail the launch without blowing the tires off. I launched at about 2200 rpm, I didnt dump, I let out quickly and rolled into the throttle. I would say the 3 other passes were with a good launch. Now my question is this, does track temp, air humidity and quality play a big role in times? 3/4 of the way down the track my windows fogged up so much I couldnt not even see out of them! Just the lights of the car next to me. It was a hot evening, I'd say around 85 degrees. This really puzzles me cause i have a friend with a 99 a4 that runs 13.20's all day long. And everytime we have raced, whether from a dg or a roll, I've pulled him, every time, without fail. Is it the air humidity? It was a really muggy night. Should I go back and try to better myself? I dont understand the crappy time, especially with the street races I have pulled off. All of my friends said they thought for sure i would have pulled a really low 13 or high 12. And none of them were there(go figure).

Well your 60' isnt bad for street tires and full tank of gas. Your MPH is good it seems for your mods. Humidity does kill ya. But your ET does seem high. You can chalk it up to added weight of the vert and gas or you just you have a average running car. On a cooler day Im sure it could do better. My car stock with the 345hp package would run 13.5-13.7 with 2.2-2.3 60'. I dunno what to tell ya. Has she been tuned up lately?

Im sure your buddy with the A4 has a better 60' then you, thats why his ET is lower. On the street, the 6 speed wins (in most cases).

Sounds about right for a full weight, stock (im assuming) m6 vert in the summer heat and humidity. Wait till better DA's are here and throw some sticky tires on and you should lower those times quite a bit.

I see you are from northwest La. as myself. I run at Red River Raceway very often with my 02 SS convertible your 60' and mph look about right for street tires, your et is not to bad (street tires, gas load & air). Were you at RRR for midnight madness saturday night? I don't recall seeing you. The left lane was nothing hooking up as well as the right.

I went on june 21st. It was my very first time i might add, I left out i had a horrible reaction time of .458. I will admit i was nervous as hell, my heart was beating 100mph. And yeah, I did fill up that morning as i didnt plan on racing the car, but i figured couldnt hurt to bad. Let me correct the times, now I have the paper right here... 2.272 60 ft. 13.719 at 104.55 mph. This was the best i could do. I couldnt get my freind to go with so we could compare times, so i just shrugged it off to bad air maybe. It was probably one of the worst nights of the year to go. The guy there got on to me cuz i didnt have a helmet being that it was a vert. My rearend is getting ready to take a **** on me i think... it makes a horrible clunking sound on the 1st to 2nd shift when i really bang through the gears. I am thinking of running 4.11's for sure nothing higher, has anyone here seen an m6 car running a lower gear?

Like everybody has said, the times dont look to bad for your car. Considering the heat and weight of the vert. The 60ft time is not helping at all either. If you can get that down close to a 2.0 60ft, you would probably be down close to 13.30- 13.40 ET. Also be sure and let the car cool down good between runs, heat soak will hurt your times also.

Maybe check the rubber mount on your torque arm where it bolts to the tranny, could be some of your noise on the 1st-2nd shift ? Good luck.

Thanks for the help, I'll get under there tomorrow and check out the torque arm mount, thats what someone else said also. And no, the car has no tune. As soon as I get the 9" with 4.11's on I'll see about some headers and at that time I will go and get a tune on the car, hopefully these 2 mods will really wake the car up I'm hoping.

nothin to complain about...verts are heavier and autos are easier to run at the track...looks great for 1st time out and crappy weather...

stay with what you have..other than mabya tune up..get some more track time under your belt and get used to the rush....i started racing my formy and i started out with a 13.35 and by the end of the day i was runnin 12.58 @110 with a 1.85 on M/T DR's 16" all i had was a set of headers and a K&N air filter with SLP lid and the tires...the motor was just about damn stock...but seriously get more track time and then once you get a good feel for it...then throw on some stickys..just have an extra set of gears around..the 10 bolts are WORTHLESS...been through 3 of em...i know..

Time sounds right. A better '60, less gas, and better weather will get you low 13s. Practice will also help. The track is different than the street. E.T. is all in the launch.

If it isn't a daily driver I would pull the AC system, cruise control, put in a small battery, an underdrive pulley, and then bolt on some slicks.

That would get you where you want to be at minimal cost! These cars are so front heavy. I wouldn't get so upset about it... My car doesn't very fast in stock form!
