Default First time EVER racing the 1/4

I first started off running a 13.7...HA. Made me depressed. Within 6 runs total I got my best all the way down to a 12.96 @ 108.14 with a 2.03 60'ft. This is with street tires and the mods in my sig. I think that it is going to take a lot more practice with the reaction and the stalling. Is this decent?

My best '60ft was a 1.99. Everyone said it was pretty good on not-so-good street tires

You're getting there! Don't worry about reaction time..sit there for 5 seconds if you want. It will not affect your time. Stay calm at the line, take a deep breath, and just roll with it!

When I had 2.73 gears on street tires I got a 12.7 in my car. Just flooring it off idle..no trying to rev or stall it up. Just idle and floor it! Do a little bit of a burnout to heat them up.

I was told to stall it up...and isnt it better to not floor it all the way just go about 90% then ease into the rest once you get about 15'?

Thats a damn good 60' on a stock converter with bad tires.

I can't break into the 1.9's and I have drag radials, my car has no low end torque so it is a dog till it hits 4000.

A nice shot of laughing gas could change that.

I've actually been having this discussion with some friends to about whether to stall or "flash" the stock torque convertor. This is my first LS1 seeing that I am a Mustang convert so the only two times this car has been to the track I did the stall and roll into it. I'm going to Sacramento Raceway on the 14th. I'll be sure to do a couple runs both ways and post the time slips to see which launch method works out better

I'm holding off for alittle while. Going to the NMCA/NMRA race. Gonna try either true street or late model efi. Then after that is Super Chevy.
