UMI Performance Suspension Over Haul - 1999 SS - Lots of pics!
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share some photo's of the suspension rebuild we are currently doing on Jerry's 99' SS. Jerry is one of UMI's product designers as well as our CNC programmer and CNC laser programmer. Jerry has been with UMI since day one so occasionally his vehicles get treated to a free rebuilds .
Jerry picked up this SS last spring, it actually came from a customer of ours. For suspension the car had a UMI torque arm, panhard bar and control arms. All suspension will be replaced with new items.
It also had a competitors set of SFC's we just had to cut off. Someone had to use some round stock to fill in the gaps while welding. We did not do this.
Below is the start of the tear down. I will be posting the finished product shortly.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks for looking!

I'm gonna go thru the same process as soon as all the parts arrive....it'll definitely need an alignment though.....but I can usually eyeball it pretty good (LOL).

The shocks are Afco Reactor 6875F's. Single adjustable rebound, fixed compression with BNC valving and 100 psi nitrogen charge. Jerry's car was pretty quick already and we happened to have the Afco's in stock. If you increase the rebound to the middle of the range it actually makes a pretty nice street shock. Our cars are constantly changing so if we find the 6875's don't work for what we're using the car for, we'll send them to Afco and have the damping curve changed accordingly.
With the LCA relocation brackets already installed, we can go full drag simply by adding our 2245 rear bar or full road race by increasing the front spring rate and adjusting the shock valving if necessary.
I've attached the dyno chart at soft and firm rebound for your viewing enjoyment.
