What kind of oil should i use
So after getting some info on this Matter I decided to go with Royal Purple and cut my Oil consumption by atleast 65%.TimZ28 from Arizona was a big help on this ,He had the same problems and thats what he said works for him and it works for me....Hope this helps... Based on this, I suggest Amsoil 5w30 (or 10w30), Redline 5w30 (or 10w30) or Castrol's Syntec 0w30 from Germany (make sure it says from Germany on it, as this oil is actually Formula SLX, and is an extremely good oil) All of these oils are on the very upper end of the 30wt range, so they are almost 40wt oils. And then don't thin out either, all three of them stay very close to their original viscosity, even if you go with 5-6k intervals.
If you want to stick with conventional oil, Pennzoil 10w40 or Castrol GTX 10w40 are both good choices too. With these oils though, they'll thin out a little bit, so you'll want to stick with 3k intervals to be safe.
The problem with Mobil 1 is that it's too close to being a 20 weight oil, so when you drive your car hard, you don't have as much protection as you should. Especially if your oil temps are very hot (which means the oil is even thinner) If you mix in some 15w50, it helps, but one of the problems with that solution is that it then thickens up the viscosity of the oil when cold too, which can cause more engine wear once the weather isn't so super hot anymore.
The funny thing is after writing my reply on this,I thought I should have had 01WS6 Contact you
If I remember correct you have been in alot of these Oil posts..... Their 10w30 should be more stable, but I've seen it thin out a bit also. Use this oil with caution, and do oil analysis to see how the wear numbers look.
I'm going to try their 10w30 next in my wife's car to see if it really is more stable.

Check over at BITOG and they should be able to answer this better than the lsx crowd can.

I still believe now what I wrote then though. LS1s do not like M1 5w30, they like something a bit thicker.
