'71 Chevelle - LS1/T56 - In progress
Well it is time I start a thread to keep track of my swap progress. I have a '71 Chevelle that I will be putting a 02' LS1 and a
'00 T56. My T56 came w/ a Ram dual friction clutch, centerforce billet flywheel and Pro 5.0 shifter. I have decided on doing a H/C swap before I install the motor.
My Chevelle weighed about 3500 lbs w/ an iron 350 so I'm hoping to drop a little weight. Going from a th350 to T56 so I will be adding clutch pedal and hydraulics. I have a pedal set from a '99 Camaro, T56 console, and '95 Impala SS tank. I will be running a Racetronix kit w/ 255 Walbro in tank pump.
My car w/ the buggy:

Looks like a great start! If you want a place to keep a project journal that gives you space to write a narrative, and doesn't have all the pop-ups, check out

That's where I have mine. Makes it easy to show folks your progress and keep a record for yourself. Good luck with your conversion and may your surprises be few!

Yeah that's the Covan's, w/ Ultra-Lite's, i already had some gauges so I pieced it together. Seems fairly firm, but the bottom is kind of short and no mounting instructions. I'll figure something out. Just got in my console and gas tank. M6 console and '95 Impala SS tank. I'm planning on cutting some motor adapter paltes this weekend and working on the trans mount. Trying to have it running in a couple months.
Need to order some new springs 750/175 and front uppers scandc kit, I plan on boxing my front lowers. I need to fit in the Impala tank and put in my Wolfe Racecraft Spericals in the rear. Already running BMR adjustable uppers and SSM lowers in the back.
I will be running a 12-bolt w/ 3.31's and Tom's axles. I want to replace my posi with a Detroit Truetrac and 4.10's, but I'll have to wait.

Drop me a pm if you don't mind. My wiring harness should show up tomorrow, and I could work on it in the evenings.
Thanks

Got some more work done on the car this week. Took out the A/C and the dash. Removed the old tar sound deadener. After trying to fit the motor/trans in earlier this week and the trans tunnel being in the way I decided to remove it for now.
Sitting at about 3* down.
Didn't have time to fit the headers last night. Looks pretty tight.
From the inside.
New BMR rear support braces. Ordered the on the Power Tour in Orlando. Arrived Wednesday.

Got my headers in for a test fit. Everything looks to be lining up well. I need to get brackets cut for motor mounts, clutch and hydroboost. Picked up a '98 Grand Cherokee steering box for a budget quick ratio conversion. Got these cleaned up and ready for paint. I also have a set of gas tank straps coming in the mail so I should get to hanging the tank in the next week or so.
