Default "Advanced write up" request

I would love to have a crash course in suspension geometry, if anyone is a self proclaimed expert on the subject

A friend of mine has written a 677 page book on suspension. It is titled Race Car Engineering BOOK ONE. He plans four more. In other words, it's pretty hard to condense into a crash course...

I'm no expert, but what part of it. The handling part of it (caster, camber, alignment, toe, etc...) Or the drag race portion (instant Center, pinion angle, etc...) do you want to understand better.

There is one thread in this section on suspension from MADMAN.

I would love to do a "crash course writeup"

I will do it when i get back next week tuesday 12/27(with the family now) and all my books are at home.

BTW "Racecar Vehicle Dynamics" is the Bible for suspension geometry/design etc. If you are at all interested in suspension design, i suggest you get that book.

Suspension is just dead weight, but seeing as how you have a truck, all you need is to add some leafs to the back and you can up your hauling capacity.
JK

Borders bookstores have a couple of decent books on the subject. One is by Arrt Morrison, and I have the other one. I'd say both are pretty good & talk about different types of racing application.
Dick Guldstrand has a lot written too but I've never seen it in a book.

The theory can get very complex, but ironically it seems to be the simplest set-ups that work the best on the track. There are so many ways to accomplish the same result.

That book is a little pricy ($99 bucks on amazon) but all the review on it say it is excellent.

It is probably the best practical book, race car oriented though.

Rowley is a friend of yours? Who are you, MadBill?

Hint: I wrote the introduction to the book, per the website...
(And even though I read every word at least 3 times while editing it, there's lot's of it that I still don't understand.)

That book is the absolute motherload of race cars. After reading through all of the excerpts, I'm stunned at the detail used. If I had the time to read a book like that, or the money right now, I'd def pick it up.
