Default how many guys weld their reluctor wheel to crank throw?

just curious because i know its a huge problem unless you buy a callies crank that comes welded...

i have seen about 6 cars in the last 2-3 months that have had random detonation on pretty much stock cars and trucks and it because of the reluctor wheel moving.

or if you dont weld it you can put a crank trigger on the front of your damper... but i think you have to have big stuff 3 or fast XFI...

any ways just curious as to how many are doing this....

i didnt even know about people doing that until i asked around... a few guys building race motors do it... all of the the big race shops seem to do it.. but most street shortblocks dont have it done.

never welded any of mine, never any problems with the wheel/sensor. Shifting at 8K rpm.

New motor has a callies crank, and it's welded. Always verify your actual advance with a light if the wheel has been removed or is on an aftermarket crank. Not a bad idea on a stock replacement either.

Personally i think some of the problems are from balance jobs where they remove the wheel and reinstall it, mine have always just been drilled right through the wheel and the counterweight.

We weld them on most any engine we pull apart and every engine that is built from scratch. We leave them alone on our crate engines. Never had a problem either way. If the engines apart, I agree with Firehawk441.

i just welded mine up on the "inside" meaning the side closes to the middle of the crank...

all my internals have been sent the machine shop for fly cutting pistons and balancing the fly, harmonic balancer, crank, rod, pistons...

wahoo wont be too long.

I think a lot of FI people have had to weld theirs, when that POS comes lose its a bitch to troubleshoot unless you already know about the problem.
