Weird. Looking at that pic, the injectors are placed very low, which is not an advantage. Some sportbikes have dual stage, with the lower RPM injectors low like on the R1 above, but have secondaries for the higher RPM, which are larger and placed up on the velocity stacks.

umm, for production vehicle VS production vechile?
if so, you're sorely mistaken, or just looking at the wrong models... you probably didn't look that deeply into it before you said that.

Motorcycles have always been advanced if you consider DOHC 4v/cyl technology, but I don't. That's pretty much commonplace now.

However, when did sportbikes all have fuel injection? Even in the late 90s the Yamahas were still carb'd. It isn't that they are behind because of lack of innovation, they are just behind because it isn't practical. It's odd, in some aspects they are far more advanced than any car has been (Cylinder head design for example), but in other areas they are still far behind (Variable cam phasing, variable/staged runner lengths, etc).
