Turbo single cylinder?
Has anyone here had any experience with a boosted single cylinder 4-stroke? (610 CC or less) I am playing around with the idea of it right now, fuel injected. If so did it make pretty good power, and how was the spool. It seems to me like it should work fine, but I have some slight doubts because of the valve events of a single cylinder.

Interesting, I haven't found much online, and what I have found doesn't seem very credible. This will be a custom fabbed kit with a fabbed intake controlled by a standalone.

turbo quads
My buddy has ben doing this for coppl years now to banshees and other quads, just last year he made a t kit for a stock yfz 450 on alky it made 105hp at rear tires, he has sold over 10 t kits so far this year, im sure he could build a t kit for your bike at a reasonable price? his name is Brad Tyson (TYSON RACING) he is in MI

Thanks for the info slowgmc, myself and a group of others will be doing all of the fabbing. We just didn't want to decide on a particular engine setup until we had seen some real world results.

Now that I think about it though, the YZ450F (off road motorcycle) only dynos about 50RWHP at the most with the same engine as the quad.
Thats just my .02!

yes the 600cc's out there are making MEGA BHP for the size and weight, but they are 4pots that rev to the moon and back! bit diffrent to a single thats 150cc short of their capacity.
hmmmm maybe the sports bike manufactures should start to look into FI. wouldn't it be great if you could get a 600 that could make R1 matching power? rotex style superchargers maybe?????
thanks Chris.

Ahh, good ole FSAE, eh? I was on ISU's team back in 99-01. Then judged electrical/electronics at the first West Coast FSAE competition (been out in China or too busy ever since). I want to make our company's ECU work on the high RPM stuff, soon... but it's not ready for that yet.

LS1W - Do you know what fuel controller your neighbor used on his Rhino to convert to fuel injection? I wonder if you could make something like the megasquirt system run on single cylinders.

I looked into it for FSAE also, but the intake rules made it a poor idea, the intake and exhaust valves only open every other turn of the crank, and with a restrictor, and throttle body having to be on the intake side of the turbo, it wouldnt work well. IMHO the best engine for those rules would be a short stroke V6, or V8, 600cc that can rev to the moon, never had the time, money or manpower to work on one in school though...
