Default replacing gauge cluster/roll back odo?

okay so i am replacing the 110mph gauge cluster in my ride with a 150 and the cluster i have now reads 76xxx miles on the car which is the right amount of miles, the cluster i am buying says 148xxx miles, how do i roll back the new one so it reads how many miles are actually on the car.

well that being illegal, you probably have to take it in somewhere to have a pro do it. but i don't know how you will be able to prove how many miles you have, maybe bring them the old one?

aren't they digital? also the dealer should be able to hook there computer to it and the actual miles are stored in the main computer i think. unless your car is before they started doing that. but i would think a 94 would have that.

94 did not have a digital.

I would say if you can roll back to the right miles do it. As long as you are being honest with it who cares, no one will ever know.

None of the above. I will take it apart for you and swap out the actual odometer. Done it before for my car (to keep the mileage honest), can't be too hard on the older style...

it think 6LE is right on that one. on the digital ones i think the mileage is in the BCM on some vehicles anyway.

its only illegal guys if you intend to defraud someone by claiming false miles, i am merely putting the actual miles on it, but i will get in contact with 6LE and just swap it out.

Just to correct some misinformation, the mileage for these cars is stored in the cluster, not the main harness, and definitely not within the BCM.

6LE has the best idea to keep it legitimately accurate.

Yup, even Vettes just store it in the cluster...

So if someone swapped clusters..one would never know the actual mileage?? Guess that would be good and bad for some people. I always assumed that their was a way to get the actual ODO reading

If memory serves, the cluster also stores the VIN, so it wouldn't be terribly difficult to punch through that facade. There are only a hand full of facilities in the country that can repair/revise/recertify the clusters for mileage. If you don't do this, and sell later - even though you may not intend to now - you are still liable for fraud.
