Re: VW tires for skinnies? dont know what they are listed at on the tire but a 80 series will get you 25.4" tall tire and a 85 series should get you a 26" tall tire.
i have found that the tire sizes arent exact. i measured a 255 60 tire at 26.5" tall and according to the numbers it should have been 27" tall.
fyi the formula for tire height = tire width * side wall ratio * 2(sidewall adds to the height twice) /25.4(converts mm to inches) + rim diameter
Example: 255 * 60 * 2 / 25.4 + 15 = 27"

Re: VW tires for skinnies? I went to www.tirerack.com and put in for tires on a 1976 VW bug and they came up as p165/15 they are only 27 buck a piece.
