Hey 98legendws6 I remember this site being mentioned here before. I just went with a eurolamps housing so I have the benefit of the h7 bulb. It was cheaper than your suggestion. I'm not saying yours isn't better but once you get things together in the car I'd really like to get your feedback and have pics.

Well they should update their website. The $200 price will scare most people away.

For those who are wondering the address of the site.... google the company name. Its the first link. Its also where I bought my projectors. For a further hint.... check out the "Projectors - & Other Headlight Upgrades" section of the Lighting FAQ. Check out the Lighting FAQ anyway for more info on lighting upgrades in general.

There are tons of upgrades available of course. I havent found any info on the eurolamps housings, and H7s will do the job as well. I really like the fact that these are a direct GM upgrade part. Just not available here in the states. Isnt it great. All the Jap cars keep the best stuff in Japan, but the US sends the best stuff overseas....HMMMMMM

I of course will keep everyone informed with the progress and pics all around. Feel free to PM me with any questions and HOPEFULLY i will be able to see clearly now that the old lights are gone. lol...

The Eurolamps uses a H7 which is smaller than the H4 used in this kit. Will an H4 bulb put out more light since it is bigger.

H7 has only one filament and is low beam only, which is fine for the low beam location on the 1998-2002 Firebird. Having an H4 bulb in that location is pointless since only the low beam filament will be used unless you do some re-wiring. Comparing the low beam filaments only, the H7 has a higher output.

H4
Low: 910 lumen, 50 watt
High: 1500 lumen, 60 watt

H7
Low: 1350 lumen, 55 watt
High: N/A

1350 lumen is a lot more than 910 lumen.

If you want to be technical, the Camaro's stock 9006 low bean bulb is brighter than the H4's low beam filament.

9006
Low: 1000 lumen, 55 watt
High: N/A

You can get a "hyper" H7 which is basically a H9 capsule on a H7 base.
H9 is also a low-beam-only bulb.

H9
Low: 2000 lumen, 65 watt
High: N/A

These specs are from Sylvania's regular Halogen.

Now comparing to HID..... HID is typically 3200+ lumen (depending on OEM wattage and bulbs versus some higher output aftermarket).

So if you want to upgrade only the lowbeams then the Eurolamps kit is the best option?

Well that depends on the beam pattern. If it has a good beam pattern then the housing that uses H7 bulbs will be better.

I can't say for certain which of these two housings is better because I haven't seen the beam patterns of both housings for comparison. There were a couple threads a while back in which InfiniteReality said that he didn't like the beam pattern of the eurolamps housings. I didn't see any beam pattern pics comparing both housings though. Maybe he has some pics somewhere he can post. The pic I saw had HID installed in the eurolamps housings and the beam pattern was indeed bad, but then again it was HID in a Halogen reflector. He switched to some Bosche housings (I think they are the ones in this thread), but I couldn't find beam pattern pics. He said that he liked the Bosche ones better, but he put HID into them which is comparing apples to oranges when talking about H4 vs H7.

You could always use upgraded wiring with a relay to install higher wattage H4 bulbs in the housings. Just make sure to use upgraded wiring and that the bulbs really are the higher wattage and not fake (most are).
