Default Anyone else have this problem...?

ok, I actually have two, that are bothering me really bad, probably more than it shoud first: when my car has been running for not too long, the Foglight switch, and my ASR switch, right above my radio gets VERY HOT, almost too hot to touch, Is this normal?, anyone else have this problem?....

also, I cant, for the life of me, stop my stick shift from making whining/rattling/hissing? noises, I have a B&M short throw shifter, and a SLP shift **** on it, .... I even wrapped my stick in dynamat, and even put a little dynamat on the top of the stick, (to make contact with the ****) and it still is making noises any help?...

Nothing you can do about it. Its the nature of the shifter. Yours might be worse than mine but if its properly adjusted it should be to bad. I get a little harmonics from mine but nothing the stereo cant drowned out.

Unfortunately the aftermarket shifters are noisy. My Pro-5.0 is LOUD. There are some cures however! There is the ROB MOD. The robmod is basically a 1/16-1/8 inch thick strip of rubber with bolt holes cut, that goes between the shifter and the shifter handle. Also. of you wrap the inside of your shifter BOOT and console, that quiets them down a lot. Don't wrap it around the stick, I don't think that would do much.

My Pro-5.0 makes all kinds of noise as well, plus im using a **** that mounts with the 3 screws rather then being a screw on, so it hisses like all hell Its definately not loud enough to hear over the radio, but its annoying when you have everything off to have a conversation and it sounds like you have a snake in your center console... And about the switches, they do get VERY hot, the lightbulb in the ashtray does the same thing. Im almost afraid to put paper in there for fear that itll catch in fire with the heat! I guess these are just some of the joys that us F-Bod owners get to play with

Beefcopter...
...in regards to the fog light switch getting hot, I had the same problem with my '85 IROC...the headlight switch had the fog lights tied into it so that the headlights (low beams) had to be on before the fogs would iluminate. I replaced the switch 3 times because it melted. I'm assuming because the amp draw was higher than the switch was rated. I just gave up and stopped using the fogs after the 3rd switch. Come to think of it I don't even trust running the fogs on my T/A. I doubt highly GM engineers ever got around to correcting this simple problem. They never seem to be in any hurry to fix the simple sh*t.

as for the shifter noise, just put the stock rubber boot back on. I have the PRO 5.0 and it is quiet as can be. I left the factory boot on and only put the 3 easy screws back in to hold the boot, cause the other screws are a PITA to get at...good luck, Michael
