Yea if you used the paste in the little tin or can there is your problem. That stuff is for heavy oxidation, road grime, stains etc. If you went to town with that stuff it created all the scratches. You should have used a product like Meguiars scratch-X or swirl remover. But these products are really only if you HAVE swirls, I definitely wouldn't put them on for the hell of it. Granted now you need some major paint correction, but you can be rest assured it was that polishing paste that did it.
