Default Stupid trucks and their blow-outs!!

Yesterday morning on the way to the meeting spot for the MFBA fall cruise (which was a BLAST by the way!) I was behind a semi truck when all of a sudden KA-POW! he has a blowout.
Huge piece of huge tire comes flying my way... no time to react, so...
WAP! it hits the front of my car, then I feel it go underneath the car.
I'm thinking, well, I guess I'll have to buff some rubber out of the paint later on.
Pfft, I wish.
Here's a picture of the carnage...

Notice anything missing?
Turns out that big piece of tire hit the front of my car at just the right angle to promptly REMOVE my Wings West grille.
There's also a whole bunch of scratches and a few small gouges in the fiberglass, so for the second winter in a row, my car will be at the body shop.
Additionally, the LED blub in my clear corner lens was knocked out of the socket. That'll be fun to fish out of there.
Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Here's more pics:

Now my thinking is... do I replace it with what I had, or do I try something else? The WW grille was already the 3rd grille I've had on that car. A possibility for #4 is a NBM painted SLP grille. I'm gonna have to think about it for a while though, cuz I really liked how the WW grille looked.

Oh... if anyone happens to be going north on I-294 near the I-90 junction, and you happen to see a NBM Wings West grille on the road, lemme know, heh.

Wow! Hopefully you got the plate of the truck.

Time to visit insurance, that shade of blue can't be that hard to match.

That sucks!

the rubber from those tires is EXTREMELY heavy and do quite a number on the car.. Always get the license number and assume lots of damage.

Add in the fact that the tire are ususally steel belted and the debris becomes a virutal "buzz saw" when it hits your car.

Hope you get it fixed up like new soon.. claiming it on insurance?

Thanks for the kind words and support.
I'm not claiming it on the insurance, cuz my deductible is $500 and it's not gonna cost much more than that to fix it.
It's stock NBM color, so matching it is pretty easy.
Didn't get the license plate of the truck. I wish I would've, cuz trucking companies are usually lawsuit paranoid. But I didn't think there was gonna be as much damage as there was.
I called IDOT, and they literally told me "tough ****" ...what a nice state I live in.
I was gonna put the car in a photo shoot (for the upcoming 2004 MFBA Calendar) on Nov. 1. If I still do, I'm gonna have to avoid taking pictures of that corner of the car, heh.
I'm hoping to have a grille again pretty quick... I think I'm gonna get a SLP grille. Paint it NBM, and paint the bowtie emblem silver. Not sure yet though.

I gave up after my 3rd chin spoiler got ripped off by truck treads in the road.
