Just a quick update...

I've been swamped with work and haven't gotten done as much as I'd like to so far. However, the full wetsanding is nearing completion. Still a lot of work to do though...

wow bro, looks great. Its amazing the depth that color gives off when kept up. Probably my favorite factory color on 4th gen's. Check out my color change thread in the paint section... going from Monterey Maroon Metallic to Electron Blue Metallic, tomorrow im blocking it and will update pics when I get back from the shop. Thread is called MMM meets Electron Blue Metallic. Good luck man keep us posted.

Wetsanding is done!! After 55 hours of wetsanding, here is what she looks like right now.

And a few side by side shots, so you can see kinda what it will look like when finished, just keep in mind though the car is very dusty at the moment.

Holy mother f*cker! Those metallic flakes = the sex.
Does wetsanding diminish the clear coat? I'm wondering if this would fix my faded/clear coat peeling hood..?

yes, what is being sanded off is the damaged part of the clear coat. Some defects if too deep (through the clear, to the base paint) can't be taken out.

to the OP, looks great! almost makes me wish I had kept mine the original color.. but not quite .

haha thanks!

If your clear coat is peeling, its way too late to fix it. Has to be recleared.

Give yourself a pat on the back dude. Good job!!

Although I can't believe we're already finding 98's sitting in fields. lol
I guess they had to run out of 69's eventually.

Are you doing it by hand or using a block and what pattern are you using?
X pattern?

I'm doing it by hand with a Meguiars soft block. Using a + pattern.

I don't know if it's peeling, or if the paint is just faded. I have some pictures if you don't mind helping me out for a moment?

I don't mind helping out, but peeling is pretty simple... Is the clear coat peeling off, like the way an onion flakes? If you have gray patches, that is also clear coat failure and can't be saved. Faded is one thing and can be saved, Failure can't.
