Default LT1 tail light mod

I put some LT1 tail lights on my SS some time ago and had always thought about making what was the turn signal red section into a brake light and utilizing the empty part of the clear section as the turn signal. On the LT1 tail lights in the clear(reverse partition) it is split into two sections on the back. I moved the reverse to the light to the smaller (outer) section of the clear area using a 194 bulb and GM harness (after using a dremel to cut out an opening for a 194 harness), and the slightly larger (inner) section as the turn signal with an orange bulb (the old reverse light harness). What was the turn signal harness I cut and tapped into the existing brake light harness. Now the entire red section of the tail lights lights up red when the brakes are applied, which looks much cleaner at night. It all was really simple, just cut out a 194 opening with a dremel and simply rewire a few wires. I thought I read on here someone else doing this but tried to search it and couldn't find it so I'm posting mine up.

looks really good!
i already have LT1 lights installed, but havent done any rewiring yet. great idea about moving the reverse light over and using the larger clear cavity for the directional.

One more thing I'd do - run a wire to the empty hole in the socket to the middle wire on the socket next to it so the whole thing lights up with the parking lights on, not just the outside half

I thought about that after I was finished. I already have a dual filament bulb in that socket so this weekend I just may tackle that. I will post up some pics on this thread when I do.

Well got bored, found some GM sockets with the correct end to plug into the middle part of my tail light sockets; so here is the new set up with all the bulbs lighting up the entire red section with the parking lights on.

Before all the forum trolls come out and rag me for bringing up a 3 year old thread, yes I know I'm bumping this from the dead.

Anyway, how did something this cool (in my opinion) only create a 16 post response? I don't know about the other LS guys out there, but I'm not exactly fond of my amber turn signals. I think this is awesome and am just curious if anyone made a write up or posted pictures of the back of the light housing?

* I found this link through another thread so I didn't exactly go searching, just figured I would bump this and see where it lead.
