Question Dovetail spoiler

Is RK sport the only one who carries a 2nd gen camaro style Dovetail spoiler?

any that look better from behind?

anything similar to the dick harrell camaros spoiler?

I'd prefer to not be like everyone else and just throw an SS on my Z.
the dovetail looks like it just might have some downforce.
Thanks in advance,

RiceEater.

I have the freedom designs 3 inch spoiler. If you wait about a week I can show you what it looks like on a NBM Z28. I'm taking it to the body shop after work tonight and its supposed to be done by next Saturday.

I did a lot of spoiler searching as well, I didn't want an SS spoiler either. I heard good stuff about the Freedom designs spoiler and I like the old school look of them. Reminds me of the spoiler I had on my 68 BB camaro. Plus, they are half the price of the RK spoiler and one piece.

sweet thanks guys. is there any that replace the factory z spoiler instead of mounting ontop? thats kind of the part I don't like. I was thinking the 3" as well, 5" seems like it could be overkill.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the only way you are going to replace the factory Z spoiler without bolting something on top would be to have something custom fab'd. Which that would probably cost a boat load more than any aftermarket spoiler out there. It would probably look great if you could get something fab'd directly on the hatch, molded in place of the factory spoiler, but it would take time and $$$.

I'll find out soon if I made the right decision by getting the Freedom Design, but looking at FamousZ's car, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with my choice.

****. ok lol, I was afraid it'd have to be fabbed. It just doesn't look as good to me sitting ontop. Maybe I could adapt a 2nd or 1st gen....with lots of time and money haha.

did you go with the 3 or 5? I'll check up on here to see what you think of it, may have a winner there for me as well

I am in the process of making my own out of fiberglass. It will look close to the 5" 3 piece spoiler. I had to make my own because the side peices wouln't fit on to my custom quarters. I figured if I'm going to go to all this trouble I may as well mold it in smooth to the deck & quarters too. I will see if I can get pics up tomorrow.

It's a 3" spoiler. I thought the 5" was just a bit much. If all goes well I'll have pics up next week. I'll post them up on this thread so you can check it out.

yea I really like the first and 2nd gen dovetails, I'm starting to like the rear view of the Freedom type spoilers, *thats the part I don't like, sitting ontop of the stocker*, but It looks damn good from the side and front! anyone have vision issues with the 5"?

Sorry, I totally forgot about the pics but I got some to show you. I started with a cardboard template and covered it with aluminum foil and applied several layers of fiberglass. Popped the new peice off the cardboard template and I was left with just the fiberglass spoiler. As you can see there is still a lot of work to be done but I think you can see where I am going with this. The side pieces are still just fiberglass mock-ups and aren't even attached yet.
