thats how my 96 is.

I guess i could try and find more pics of my car if you want. but there should be plenty of pics with this options floating around already.

Just find some Firebird mirrors that are black from a junkyard or ebay and swap them out...

If I remember right, Z28s come with black mirrors stock. SSs typically have color matched. No?

here are my black mirrors on Hugger Orange...some folks seem to think Hugger is close enough to call it red, lol.

Actually, I think it was more of a year thing... I know I saw a lot more 1996+'s with them than 1993-1995 cars. More V6 cars had them than any Z28's or SS's as well...

Again, this isn't GM numbers just personal experience...

All 3 of my Zs have black tops and mirrors... 93, 95 and 01...

2000-2002 Camaro's have painted to match mirrors.

All 4th gen Trans Am's have painted to match side mirrors, and b-piller. V8 Camaro's b-piller are black except 35th Anniv SS, it is red like the rest of the car.
