Default Taillight Tinting

Just bought a set of LS taillights for my '96 and am going to tint these. I already tinted the factory ones and I'm not sure if I like VHT. I've heard of people mixing black paint in with clear and tinting them that way. Has anyone has success with that? Also could I get some pictures of the LS taillights tinted in different ways? Not sure how I want to go about the reverse lights.

Thanks!

Mine were sprayed with clear/black. Second picture is with the lights on (yes the bulb has been fixed) and the third is with the brake lights on. Obviously the darker you go the less light that shows through. I had mine spray a year or so ago and have had no problems with inspection or law enforcement.

Yours look good. I wasn't too please with the VHT because they weren't as shiny as the paint. Yours definitely are though. Do you remember how many coats you did?

The trick with VHT is to wetsand them and polish them. I was regretting doing mine until I got bored one day and wetsanded. Now they're shiny, I love them

Clear/black here too, ..., but had the local body shop guy that I know do it for me.
I have no idea what his ratio was, but will stop by there this afternoon & ask.
He's done that for me on my motorcyle windshield, & three sets of side-marker lenses.

(No photos available, as I sold them to a guy in Florida. LT1 style taillights, so they were completely smooth without the single round back-up light sticking out like a sore thumb.)

I had Tyler at Pavlock (a sponsor) do mine. I bought the VHT and was going to go that route and change my mind. He also did the side markers and turn signals. I'm not sure what the clear to black ratio is or how many coats. I think his "name" on here is Tyler@Pavlock or something like it. I like to have the Silverado done also.

i just got my tail lights tinted yesterday. i bought the pre-cut vinyl tint off ebay and took it to a buddys shop to get them applied. i was pretty disappointed with the outcome. first they werent dark enought. second they look like ****, even when installed by a professional installer. just do what everyone else is doin and do the clear/black option. once i get some time, im definitely gonna do that route.
