Post Calling quits?

Well I've been thinking the past few weeks about what I want to do next to my car and I'm starting to think that maybe I should just give up and leave it as is, or at least for quite a while. Everything I wanna do is just starting to cost to much and still wouldn't bring me to be a good show car. So I'm thinking just getting a few more performance mods, LT headers and possibly a cam heads uprade to help out since my setup made my car kinda slow (2 inch drop, 18's, suspension mods, 3200 Vig converter and LM exhaust). Then from their basically drive the car on decent days (Since I have a daily car), try not to worry about it so much and start saving up for a future car.

Man, you're in the same boat as me, everything costs too damn much! It sucks, but ya gotta pay if ya wanna play. You car looks damn good as it is, I say leave it alone.

Yeah, I know what you mean man. I keep telling myself I'm going to stop for a while and get some stuff for the house too. My car takes up all my free money. I only have a few major things to get before I'll be happy so I'll probably stop some time this year for a while.

I've had fast cars and show cars. Speed is ALWAYS more fun that bling. Your car has the looks, now make it haul ***.

and get rid of the truck grille (hehe)

You've been in a quandry lately on the appearance of your car.
Time to let that part of it sit for while and work on the go-fast
goodies! After a while, you'll get the spark back for some
bling-mods, then you work on them again.

It takes time and patience. You've done a lot to your car this year. Appearance wise it looks pretty good - and I've seen your car in person. The big looks go a long way, it is finited details that take it over the top.

Performamce is great too, nothing better than to look fast and go fast too. While the performace mods occur, little appeance things somethme automatically come to mind.

Take a step back from the car, and look at, and ask what do I like, what don't I like. Then tag priorities to each item of dilike and them figure out how to make them better, do this area byt area. Outside, inside, engine bay . . .

It will all work out, NEVER call it quits, take a break - sure.

I definately know how you feel man. I have a race car that I also want to be my show car. On top of that... I drive the car every day. I try to keep the car spotless and perfect for all the car shows, but at the same time I want to dog on the car and race it all the time (so of course it gets rock chips and such). I can't just keep my car in the garage... where is the fun in that? I spend money on the new motor trying to get the car into the 9's and then I turn around and spend hundreds of dollars for each car show just to make sure that my car is "good enough". How can you compete with people that keep their car under a car cover 24/7 and spend each waking moment detailing each piece? Your car is absolutely amazing so anything you do can only make it better. This hobby isn't a cheap one. I think you will enjoy the performance mods.

Hey Kev, your car looks damn good as it is.
You see me drooling on those Z06 wheels every time I see your car, lol.
But I know how ya feel... as was said it's an expensive hobby, and it can get frustrating sometimes.
Taking a break from it all is the best advice you can take.
It's very hard and very expensive to have a car like this that looks great, goes fast, and is a daily driver... but it's worth it to me, and I will NEVER demote the Camaro from its daily driving duties (winter excluded).

I think I can really relate here.. look at my old SS.. how much $$ did I have to pour into it to get some decent car show and magazine attention. For a 4th gen to compete against old cars it has to be 100x better.. it can get frustrating. I put in a $4k interior and "joe public" thought thats what came standard in an SS..

Its one reason why I sold it and went with an old car.. I say you car is beautiful as it is and even if you stopped now it would still be one of the nicer ones. I guess you need to just go to the events and enjoy yourself and not care about the winning and loosing part. Hell the real fun is just bs'ing with the other car show folk and answering ?'s about the car..

Just dont sell it and get out of the hobby.. its in your blood now and believe me you will miss it.

Besides there are lots of little mods you can still do that will keep you busy and not cost you much..

madice-since you have another car and can keep your ride fresh take your time. its almost impossible to have a perfect car when you have to drive it everyday so you have that in your favor. ive put almost as much into my ss as i paid for it new(with a body/painter as a best friend) and i havent even started on the motor/drivetrain phase other than bolt ons! the speed bug is bitting hard now that a ls1 isnt what it was stock 4 years ago with all the new stuff on the roads. iam about to sell the lude and order a new duramax crewcab 4x4 its going to be a little while before i get to it. but i need a good long distance tow pig so i can take my ss to far shows and cruises, but somthing that can carry people and be practical since i just had a little one. its hard to believe i could have a new vette almost for the price of this truck.
a lot of people think iam crazy to put so much into my car but i never plan to sell it so i dont regret it a bit,ill NEVER be done with her! no amount is to much!

Yea that will probably be called cleaning . After thinking about how much money you had to put into your camaro to get some decent respect is one of the main reasons I was starting to think that it just isn't worth putting more money into the car... but then again everything I've put into the car so far I pretty much would do again in an instant.

You should just have a friend store you car for like 3 months and then after 3 months go by, go get it and you will be like DAMN this thing is beautiful.
