Default Make your own gauges! Anyone try this?

Looks simple enough! When im ready for gauges, i'll go to 6LE if hes still doing it. BUT, i could definitely see this working for fab up purposes and kicking different ideas around. Has anyone here actually tried this? It looks like this guy got good results!! Pretty cool i think.

and anyone have glowing needles to compliment them?

idk how it would work.

look at his stock gagues. the RPM strats in the 7 oclock postion. and sends at 8Krpm in 5 oclock postion

now the one he made started in the 4 oclock and went to the 2 oclcok postion.

they isnt the same distance. it is like the same if you go from a 155 speedo to a 200 speedo. you need to recalibrate the cluster

If you read the directions, it easily explains this.

He simply rotated the whole gauge cluster and the 0 point on the needle.

I was about to make a thread for my 1995 Camaro gauge, since 6LE doesn't seem to make any for mine, and I don't want those ugly white face gauges.

Thanks for the links, I'm going to look into it.

Yeah I do, I have made a ton for 1993-1996 Camaros... Even a couple 200mph ones. Everything available to the 1997+ guys is available to you...

Good write-up. Now you guys know why these take so long to make Best I can tell it is a similar process BUT we obviously are using different (way higher quality) materials and machines to make the layers, cut, etc...

I think you've missed something here. . . .

original gauges. . . 7 oclock and 5 oclock are 2-hours away. . . .
new gauges. . . 4 oclock and 2 oclock. . . . are STILL 2-hours away. . . .

the gauges he made look really great. For someone with the time, one could make some real nice custom gauges. I'd like to see someone else try it

Sorry 6LE, unless I'm totally blind, the ones you sell aren't even the same shape/set-up as the ones in my 1995.

All those look like the 98+ Camaro ones, the outline shape for mine is more rectangular.
All I want to swap is the overlay, not the dash piece or whatever to go to that other shape, if that makes sense.

Still nothing, even with what you posted lol.

Let me find lame *** Internet Explorer...lol, I'm using Google Chrome right now btw, maybe if I can see them, I will order them

EDIT: Awesome, I see them now!

I still kind of want to make my own, I think it would be a cool project for me and my dad to do, he's an electrical guy and I love messing around with CAD stuff...
Just need to decide what I want to try to make, a part of me wants to go full digital like the Lamborghini Reventon, or semi like the ones in the Callaway Seldgehammer Vette.
OR completely retro-classic like the first gens with just a few new touches.

If it doesn't happen, I'll definitely go with you now 6LE just wondering, do you offer the needles too? I HATE the fat needles in my car.

Don't offer needles If you make your own I'd just make something that matches a popular aftermarket gauge so if you want to put gauges in the car later they will match

Ours match Cobalts and other Auto Meter II series gauges pretty well

Great idea lol, that was the only thing I was really worried about, if I do too much to the overlay, the rest of my car won't exactly go with it
...then I'll end up spending most of my money/time on appearance instead of go-fast goodies

i might try that eventually with red, just to see if i like it. If i do then i would order one of 6LE red overlays for a quality piece.
