Default My custom billet hood scoop grill!

Well...after all the brainstorming, we finally did it! (my father and I) Building it wasnt that much of a problem, but figuring out a way to mount was! It took more time to figure that out, then to build the grill itself! We made it from scratch with some aluminum bar stock, painted it satin black, and polished the front to match the polished Stull grill! Im very happy with the outcome and it would of never happened without the help of my father. Ever since I got the Stull grill, its been buggin' me that the grill in the hood scoop didnt match. I had the "chrome" stock grill from Afterthoughts Auto, but wasnt really my taste and didnt match like I thought that it would. Plus the chroming part of it wasnt that great. I was originally going to cut out a flat piece of aluminum in the shape of the hole in the scoop and just cut slits into it, and from a distance it would look like it had bars as regular billet grill would, but I wanted it to be original and to match the grill in the facsia. Anyhow, enough with the all the talk...check it out! Let me know what you think! Thanks.

The pictures arent that great because its dark, but I will post up some in the daytime tomorrow.

I dont have any pics of the old one...I never even installed it because I didnt like the quality of the "chroming", so I sent it back. It was just a stock insert that had a "chrome" like finish to it. I dont believe that Afterthoughts sells them anymore.

Looks good

A few years ago when I got a billet grill for our 2000 SS I was also wondering how to make one or why people never made one?

To LawmanSS and to anyone else that was wanting to know: I have some left over aluminum...probably enough to make 2 or 3 grills. If theres enough interest, I could get more aluminum to make more of them. So if anyone is interested, please email or PM me for more details. Thanks

How well would this hold up at high speeds on the highway... say around 150mph. Is this thing mounted solid or is there a chance it can slide back? Just asking cause I dont know how its mounted.
