Default Switching odometers HELP

I will be getting a new gauge cluster soon that has 150 mph instead of 110 in my 94 ta. the miles on the new odometer are obviously different. after a long search i cannot find my answer. can i switch my odometer with the new one or change to numbers to my current miles or take it to a shop or dealer and get it done for a reasonable price?

IIRC, it's illegal to have odometer changed wether it's the original one or not. . .

you could have the new odometer older than the mileage you have, and then just drive with your current one until they match. then switch them over and you've got the correct mileage.

Other than that, I dont think there's a legit way to do it.

I think you can do it with a tech II.

I thought SLP made a tool that was meant to change gear ratios, but was also being used to change Odometer mileage? Maybe it only works for 93's, but I know for sure there is such a tool/device.

I dont what SLP device your talking about, but I doubt that would work. The odometer is a self contained unit, not controlled by the PCM- it is all in the cluster. The only reason I thought of using a tech II is because I know you can change miles and even VINs on some cars, but im not sure for our cars.

SLP made something to tune the computers for different gear ratios (which is why I think it was a '93 thing) but people were using it to mess with the odometers, so they stopped making it.

I've read about it alot on SpeedDensity.org, I'll try to see if I can find a thread.

I am pretty sure you can take the clusters apart and swap just the odometer. I remember seeing a thread on some ricer site.

Since it is not a digital odometer, I would assume it would be possible.

The odometer CAN be changed...but you won't get it changed. The dealer is the only one that can do it. You have to prove the lower mileage is correct in order for them to change it. And usually, they won't do it on a used cluster. If you buy a new cluster from gm...that's a little different. They will program whatever in...as long as you can prove it's accurate.

put new cluster in car, put car on jackstands, run car in reverse until the mileage is correct.

"Whatever miles we put on we'll take off"
"How?"
"We'll drive home backwards" j/k
