Tint and Top Not Sticking to the Window, Shop Called it Matrixing?
Ok got tint on my car...and its looks good besides the back window at the top where those black dots are everywhere...the shop told me its called matrixing, when the tint wont fully stick to he window b/c of those dots, looked it up on the net and seemed they were not bs'ing me, so was wondering if you guys ever have this problem and if a really good shop can fix it or should I take it back or wat..O and its a c5 vette if that matters. Thanks in adavnce.

There is 3 things that you "can" do...
1. Have a really good tinter tint the rear again, Ive personally seen it done many times.
2. Have the tint shop cut the tint at the dot matrix and then go to a vinyl shop and have they put black vinyl over them (Cant even tell its not tint)
3. Sand the matrix down a bit and paint the glass black

I have the same problem on mine. When he first tinted it, it looked fine but after it dried and settled I got the same thing. The guy that tinted mine gave me those three options, I opted to just leave it as is for right now.

i have the same problem and noticed it right away when it was done. it gets better over time, but not that much better - maybe like 30% better after a month. you really cant notice it unless you are looking but my guess is there is no way around it since the matrix is raised above the window. our best bet is probably to get the matrix removed and then go over it. it kinda bothers me, but again unless you are nitpicking on the car, you really cant notice it.

I tint windows as my main profession. You have those options but there is one more. it's called gorilla snot. It's a glue you lay on it when your tinting it and as you push the film down the glue fills in the space between the matrix and the film making that white go away. Vinyl is definitely the easiest.

I will be taking a razor blade to mine and then masking off and spray painting it with a flat black. I hate the dot matrix it ruins the look of the rear of my car. My tint guy did a hell of a job all they needed to do was sand the DOT matrix a good bit and clean it off really well before they apply the tint to it.

T-tops are tinted on the outside, not the inside, so you shouldn't have that problem at all? Now the stuff on the rear window is understandable. For that, you can either sand it, tape it off and paint it (on the inside) then tint below the paint line, or some tinters have used a glue stick type method on that spot to better adhere.
