Just washed it thoroughly. Krylon Fusion is labeled as not requiring sanding or priming. They do recommend using ammonia to clean weathered surfaces, but I just used car wash soap and water.

Ditto to what he did above. I'm a die-hard Rustoleum brand user. They came out with a new line of paint called Universal. Can be applied to nearly every substrate possible.

I painted my cowl and wipers with their Satin Black. Looks as good as new, and if it's as durable as their other lines, should last at least 10 years. Requires only basic prep...no primer. I liked it so much, I did the CETA mod with the same stuff.

I tried back to black as well and I was actually kinda pissed off with the results, it lasted for about a day before it started to fade again, ill have to try this stuff when summer rolls around again.

i also used the paint method, i just cleaned it really good once off, and applied clear coat to it.. looks like permanent dressing. what a difference.

Peanut butter is an old trick to get wax or polish residue out of porous plastics. For aesthetic purposes it wouldn't work too well. This idea or using a decent AV sealer would be better. I use Adams or Zaino tire stuff on my plastics and they work great. May have to paint it eventually.

I used Meguiar's Natural Shine on mine about 2-3 months ago... still looks good even after washing with dawn for the polishing process...

I'll be trying the Bondo stuff, might even paint it.

Trust me...paint it. It took me longer to wait for the paint to dry, than it did to remove and install the cowl and wipers. An added benefit to painting is that you can paint the fine mesh screen covering the open areas. Using the various dressings, the screen will still look like crap. Paint is the only way to get an nice, uniform look.

And let's not forget...do it once, do it right. I do not want to have to touch it up once or twice a year. Total cost to do the cowl and wipers - $6.00.

I used the peanut butter trick and it works good but dosent last. Compare the peanut butter trick to back to black. lasts a few rains and then its no good.

Depending on how much this stuff is and how long it lasts.. it will be worth it aside from painting.

Hey guys, based on this thread I decided to repaint mine. I have 99% percent of all the fastners removed (and plenty of cuts) but how do you remove the wiper arms? Be detailed because I am an Idiot. Thanks!

Mine is grey... I literally thought it was this color when I bought it... Kinda like the lame grey buttons on the black interior... I thought this was just a dumb mistake. Guess I SEVERELY need to do this... I will have to do before and after pictures to show you how TERRIBLE this is.

Having said that... I want a good result and a long lasting one... Should I go with the Bondo stuff or the Krylon Paint? What is the better choice?

well, i have had this done for a little bit now, since i made this thread, and it still looks good, and thats after a lot of rain, several washes, and staying outside practically every night. BUT, i think for the long run the spray paint will be more durable. like someone said before, the Kryklon paint will last for years, this stuff says on the box it should last atleast 6 months, so there isnt much comparison. So even though mine looks good, i'll probably paint it when i feel like trying to take it off. im waiting for some details with Joshu on how to remove the wipers

to get the wipers off, you need to get a wiper arm removal tool. they are on a tapered stud.
