Post pics of your foamless bumper with mesh
Lets try to put together an end-all page for people (like me) interested in removing (or cutting) the foam behind the bumper and then adding the gutter guard or stainless mesh to the Camaro bumper holes.
There are several factors to consider, from what I gather:
-Removing the foam could impact the affectiveness of the airbag/crumple Zone.
-Removing the foam may cause the bumper to loose its shape or sag.
-Removing the Bumper support could cause all of the same side effects as mentioned above, while providing for minimal weight rediction... what ~24 pounds?
In addition to pics, please post your comments, regrets, likes/dislikes, or other experiences with this mod.
I knew of one guy that had the foam removed from his HOSS and it looked pretty good. He still had the bumper support in and no mesh. Definitely looked like a racers mod.
The 1SC-YA build in GM High Tech also appears to be foamless/bumper supportless. IMO it looks outstanding!
To date though, I haven't seen anyone who's actually performed this mod on a car to come back and say that it has affected the shape of their bumper, etc. The only comments I have read came from those who "knew a guy."
Help me put together a nice resource for people interested in doing this!

Hmmm... I could swear you could see the radiator behind the screens from the other shots in the magazine. But I could be wrong.
I yanked the front bumper cover off a long time ago. I love the look, but I just feel like there is something better than just foam. I know that a little air passes into the engine compartment from that area after it goes strait up, but not much.
I don't know what I have against non-functional scoops, but they make me want to Maybe I can credit Lund for breeding my extreme hatred for fake scoops since every car and truck in Alabama seems to have some variant of ram air adorning their vehicle. Not to mention every mustang hood ever created, or even the LT1 style hood. It just bothers me, lol. So, I won't put any screens in there as long as they aren't actually screening out flying debris. It would go agains my automobile moral fiber
I'm not talking about hogging out the whole front end to expose the radiator in a wanna-be intercooler setup. I'm simply talking about modifying it to allow air to pass thru... but in a non-attention grabbing kind of way, almost OEM... except not oem because oem vents rarely do anything!
Thanks for everyone's contributions!

Here's an idea. Mark the holes in the bumper on the foam while the bumper is on. Then take the bumper off and cut just that part of the foam and support bracket off. You would still have the foam to support the bumper, the bar to protect incase of a wreck, and the holes to allow air/look cool.
