Default Removing smoke smell

Ok guys, I've searched the hell out of this forum but there's nothing about this.
I got a new beater Z28 and the interior just reaks of smoke.
I thought about putting silica packets in there to asorb the smell but I'm not too sure. But I don't want to throw in 100 dollars worth of air fresheners either.
Any suggestions to get rid of the smell?

roll down your windows and let your car sit in the sun for a few days, it worked for mine.

Start smoking, then you wouln't notice it. You could also try an open box of used coffee grounds in the back seat for a few days, thats worked for me.

I AGREE WITH THIS GUY!
The headliner will more or less need replaced if it were a heavy smoker and holds most of a cars smell IMO The seats and carpet can be removed & cleaned.Wipe everthing else down inside the car including the rear hatch area with some murphys oil soap or something compareable.Dont forget about the inside glass too! That tar sticks to everthing my man and is why i dont smoke in my 35th LE LOL Ill pull over before ide ever fire up in my baby LOL She still has that new leather smell to her with only 26K on the clock and i intead to keep her that wayLooking and smelling good
Good luck and the Murphys oil soap will impress you and is safe for everthing

That does not sound fun. I'm guess I'm in luck because I already have a mostly full bottle of Murphy's oil soap.

coffee grounds work pretty good, you can have the car hooked up to an ionizer at a shop, also one of the biggest smell holders are your cabin a/c, heater filters. replace those and while your at it clean the ducts

im telling you, tape the top on the smoke eliminator(so it comes out all the time) and close the car up. that would be way over kill but if have the smell that bad it will do the job..... i clean carpets for a living in a high tourism community. when someone complains that there house/rentalcar/boat was smoked in, that is what we use.

if you google smoke eliminators there are several products like the one mentioned above. I have used Vamoose, Chemac Odor eliminator, etc. and they work pretty well. There is also a "bomb" where you set it off, close the car and wait like 12 hours.

We use an ozonator at work for all the used cars. It works mint.... has to do with the extra molecule in the ozone it bonds to the carbon or whatever.. not sure how it works but it does.

wear some gloves if you go the murphy's oil route, that stuff tends to break out skin kept in contact with it for a period of time on some people.

happens to quite a few ppl at my work.

Save a few bucks, get some dynamat (or something similar)... Pull the interior, lay the sound deadener then shampoo the carpet and mats and clean each panel as you put it back in...

Car is better than new AND you accomplished more than just getting rid of smoke...

LOL, actually it was a customers car a few years ago (67 chevelle) that had a BAD electrical fire under the dash, smelled of burnt plastic & rubber. Coffee grounds worked on that so I figured it would work on ciggs too.
