Cool Repairing the infamous cracked dash pad.

I'm starting this thread so that I can compile some information on repairing the infamous cracked dash pad so that people can search and find info on this in the future.

Mine started a hairline crack on the passenger side heading toward the defroster(will take pictures later). I figured I'd repair it early before it gets to the point where it is beyond repair.

My plan is to fix it with some sort of plastic bondo, then try and reinforce it to reduce the chance of this happening again, and then attempt to wrap it in a thin interior leather to finish it up with a good look.

I will be updating the thread once I begin the removal process and start the repair.

^^be careful bud. if its not already broken, itll be brittle. just pry up on it lightly with a wide prybar type thing, and do a little at a time until it comes out

i fixed my cracked dashpad pretty easily in a matter of minutes. i ripped the old one out, opened the box of my new dashpad courtesy of gmpartsdirect, then installed the new one. I think it took 15 min

but in all serious, my dash cracked completely into 3 sections. My plan was to epoxy them back together and wrap it, but i grew impatient and ended up shattering the thing into 20 more pieces.

The one in my 93 broke into exactly 30 pieces when I went to remove it. There was no epoxying it back together.

you can also check craiglists or your local forums to see if anyones parting out a car. but getting a dash pad in good condition is hard to come by. and your friend is a retard for not knowing how much things are worth

i remember a while back some guy threw out the ls6 intake manifold on his 02 SS because he was replacing it with a FAST intake. The guy didnt know until after garbage day that he basically threw away $350
