Default time for a cage. need help deciding

alright so i ran a 12.5 on shitty track prep on stock motor. spinnin, only launchin from 2k, etc. etc. point is i need a cage cause next season is seein motor build and/or nitrous. i don't wanna make one pass and then get put down and have to put in a cage during the season.

Jegs cage is only $152 or so...but what kind of work does this require? and what is the fitment like?

i know a lot of people run the wolfe cages...however they're quite a bit more pricey than say a jegs or summit cage. and input at all about a cage would be great. thanks fellas

i mainly drive mine on the street, I went with wolfe. I went through the speakers, you can trim the speaker grill thing and put the speaker back and it still works. I had to adjust the mirror a little lower than usual but its no big deal. No matter what either get swing outs, or removable door bars, I didnt get either and I regret it everytime i drive it.

Ive used Wolfe twice , once in coupe and once in a vert . Ordered both pre-notched and both fit flawlessly . Gonna use them again on the 94 .

I'm gonna order a S&W racecars 8 point cage, they make good stuff too. The chromoly one is $399, cant put a price on safety dont cheap out on a cage.

well i decided on wolfe i'm pretty sure. i see everyone that uses them is happy. i don't think im gonna do the swing outs. too damn much for a cage for me. so how do you make the carpet go around the bars? i'm pretty sure i'm going to the flats in the back b/c i don't wanna get rid of my 6x9's goin to the wheel wells

Very careful cutting! Do a little bit at a time so you don't cut too much. My wolfe goes to the hump in the back instead of the speakers, looks better not having to hack the plastic IMO. The fit of the wolfe stuff is phenomenal!

i told you, you dont lose the speakers and if you cut the speaker grill little by little it will look good but they are both good choices. Also you may regret not getting swing outs, i know i am. Make sure you go low slung door bars and jig notched.

i don't understand how you can have them going threw the speaker grilles and have 6x9's. not the factory speakers. but i am getting low slung door bars, and having it jig notched. so you just cut the carpet? can you tell when it's installed?

sorry, i must have overlooked where you had 6 x 9 and not factory. Yeah that probably wouldnt work and the other bars are your best bet. You just may sacrifice a little visibility. On mine the carpet hugs the bars very nicely, if your doing it yourself, just go slow cut little by little. Are you getting chromoly or mild steel?

no problem man. and yeah i figured i'd loose a little visibility but hopefully that'll be alright. i think im just gonna run the mild steel considering it was already $540 in mild steel with it being jig notched. i don't even wanna look at the price difference to chromoly. i'm a budget builder till i get outta college then hopefully i'll be able to put the nicer **** in when i do something, haha.
