Default Tailights...to tint or not to tint?

Hey gang...

What do you think? Just swapped the LT1 tails on the car....smoked the front and rear marker lights this week ( haven't put em back on the car yet )
headlights are whistlered...

Should I leave the tailights as is, or tint em?

Light tint might not be too bad, ...
If you use the VHT, or a black-tinted clear, you can always wet-sand & polish it all back off, if necessary, ...

Tint them. Just don't go black, that is where you can possibly get in trouble. That's what I did to mine and I have had them that way since last summer. I'm on the highway a lot and have had cops cruising behind me and never an issue. The red is still visible and that's what matters.

Your car is what made me finally do mine that way. Same color and I really liked the look. Although mine came out a little darker and I didn't wet sand so they aren't quite as glossy (don't know how and don't want to ruin my lights).

Love the LT1 tails and think they look great how they are, but I am going for a blacked out theme this summer and plan on tinting mine a bit. Like others said, you can always sand off the tint if you don't like it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! your car looks like pure sex the way it is!!! dont tint them i think it would just be too much black in the back... maybe a really light tint like that one a few post up but nothing darker than that IMO

If you do decide to tint, and the cops around you hassle people for tinted taillights, go with a light tint as opposed to blacked out. If you go VHT, take it slowly, otherwise before you know it, you're very dark.

Love all the tint jobs posted...they all look sweet.

I think what I may do is cheat and throw a vinyl tint on them first to see if I like it or not.

Don't know how he did his but when I did mine I just followed the VHT write up on here, only I didn't put on as many coats so it wasn't blacked out. Can see the results in my sig pic (small but don't feel like cluttering the thread unless someone wants a full size pic of mine).

thats what i did to my turn signals and to the red lights on the side.

im thinking of trying my taillights as well i should have enough vinyl left to try it

if they look like 02gtp4now then that would be really cool

I as just looking at the VHT thread a few days ago. How many coats did you put on to get them to that darknes 2-3.

Actually put 4 or 5 on them (probably why they are darker than 02gtp4now), but they were very light coats. VHT is thin and runs easily. Even if it doesn't run, it can crack when drying if the coats are too thick (that happened on my 3rd brake light).
