Yep, Ive done it in my 97 SS. Swaps right in perfectly. However, if you want to get the airbag to properly connect, you need to get a bag from a 97 lumina. Hope that helps!

So I have a 98 and I am putting a 2002 wheel in it. I have to use a 97 Lumina airbag? Why won't the 00-02 airbag not work?
Because the connector in the column is different than the newer airbag. It doesn't connect to the steering wheel. The wire connects to a wire in the column.

Trust me on this.
Ok. I see that the 97 to 99 Lumina wheels are the same.
I am using a wheel with radio controls.
Also, one last question, does the coil need to be changed?
I guess I'm odd, I prefer the older style wheel to the newer one. Particularly the newer one without the radio controls, it just screams "ugly" at me. And radio controls means nothing to me as I don't use stock radios anyway.
