LED Switchback DRL Size for Trans Am
#22
I'll be busy getting the BLS kit orders out so I most likely won't have time to install the bulbs and take some decent pics. I also have a few other things in store for my own car.....I had to place an order anyway right

I've got the switchback lights from V-leds. They are the 60 led, standard socket, type-2 version. They are great!! Super bright 6k light with the headlights on, and bright amber during the day (or anytime the headlights are off). Flashes only amber, like a stock blinker, when the turn signal is on (the type-1 versions would switch between white and amber). I did switch over to an electronic flasher from autozone though. Everything works great so far.

I ordered from autolumination. They offer an A-W and an A-O version. When the headlights are on, the A-W flash amber-white-amber-white while the A-O version flash amber-off-amber-off similar to how they flash when the headlights are off.
I'm not sure about vleds.

Their A-W version sounds like V-Leds version 1.0
Their A-O version sounds like V-Leds version 2.0

Here is a page with videos and a pic of the 60-60 switchback from Autolumination. Note that the white has a very slight bluish tone (more than the halos):

Here is an email conversation I had with Autolumination:
I don't think K matching with HIDs would be a problem as long as its between 5k and 6k. Do you guys think it will be a problem?
Yes, but you're in the wrong thread. This thread is for people who want to have white, and then yellow. All of the sites listed previously sell yellow/amber LEDs.

Me:
Hi, what is the color temperature of the white LEDs in your 3157 switchback LED modules? I would like to know, so that I can match the color temp with HIDs. 5000k or 6000k?
Autolumination:
Hi
K temps are not industry standardized for color. This is because they are not actually a color scale. Each manufacturer uses his own scale so matching two different super white bulbs from two different manufacturers is more trial and error than K temp matching.
The white on our switchbacks is not identical on all of them since the leds are different. The SMTs are slightly less blue toned than the 20 led high flux ones.
All though are white with a faint blue tint.
Thanks,
Tracy

#2. I DO NOT have a flasher module. Haven't had to change a thing. Just plugged them in and that's all. Surprised? I was.
#3. I certainly did do my homework. So much so that I did buy an adjustable electronic flasher ready to be installed with my LED's. Funny part was, when I installed them and expected my blinkers to be super fast, they weren't. Nothing changed. Did the previous owner install an electronic flasher already? Possibly. I've been too lazy to check.
So I'm pretty happy overall. I'm keeping the flasher unit I bought in case I change my rears to LED's as well.

I ordered the switchback bulbs form V-leds on 3-3 and they showed up on 3- 6, I got the free shipping and I was impressed. However, just like it says on their web sight, these will not work with DRLs, I wound up putting them in my F150 so word of caution do not get the Ver 1.0 switch back leds from v-led for your t/a, they will not work, and to elaborate: the parking lights came on white and the turn signals flashed yellow but the drls did not work, period. FYI
I ordered the Ver 2.0 from V-leds, I wonder if they will work. If not, oh well, I'll just use them and not have drl's on the car.
