Default 16s vs 18s ride quality

I'm running DSG3s on 16" rims and it rides pretty damn good, I'm considering 18" wheels and tires, would I notice a difference going to 18s.

I have a back problem, don't want to make the switch and regret it.

Thanks in advance.

my ride quality has been just as good with both cars going from stock 16's to 18's. i have 40-45 side walls on both cars, so that helps. i like the tires to be a little thick just so so the ride isn't bad.

See if a local member can loan you wheels for a quick ride to see how it feels. I'd say ride in their car, but that's only going to be useful if you have the same suspension.

Depends on your suspension, the looks definately out weigh the loss in ride quality.

I run 18" rims with a 255 tire. I cant really tell a ride difference f body cars are stiff anyway

i went from 16" snowflakes to C5 wheels (17" in front, 18" in rear) and i noticed a huge difference. It was not apparent until i had my stock 16s in back for drag racing and it rode much smoother.

that being said, i find it worth it because (a) it looks much better, and (b) fbodies are not cadillacs, the rough ride is part of the package.

I went from stock 16s all around to Chrome C6 wheels, 17x8.5 front and 18x9.5 on the rear. These are heavier wheels... it kind of rides a little rougher...

Tire sidewall stiffness also has an impact as well as tire pressure.

Maybe not in this mans case. He mentioned having a bad back. I'm sure none of us would enjoy driving around in a super stiff ride with a bad back.

I do agree the looks are a ton better, but if it ruins him being able to enjoy driving it due to causing worse back pains then no, its not gonna be worth it for him.
