all u need to clean it is a razor blade for the head gasket crap and the back of the sponge the brillo part to clean off the carbon on the pistons just turn the motor over with a ratchet till each piston is at the top and clean it and a couple cans or brake clean

I'm thinking it should be in in a week or two.. depending on how much we work. My cam comes today (if it's not sitting outside already). Then I'm just waiting on the oil pan and for the machine shop to finish my heads.

Just soak the crap outta the block with brake cleaner.. Rotate the crank by hand until a piston is up on both sides, use a razor in a circular motion (don't wanna kill the grooves on the pistons) and lightly scrape off the carbon. Then when both sides are done, bring the next pair of pistons up and go again. A lot of it was just scrubbing it good with acetone.

nice but ur old numbers are way off with that baby sized of a cam and heads with the auto i bet you were below the 400 mark that cam is tiny and espcially with the stalled auto it eats power good thing you stepped it up i think your new numbers after a tune will be around 415ish which will be alot faster then your old setup

A manual generally only has anywhere from 1-4% less of a loss of horsepower from the crank to the wheels, so it's not too dramatic.

And on the other hand, you have shift times. I think my 3500 stall can bring an advantage over an M6 in that department.

id say with your new cam and those heads on an auto you'll be around 430ish. an automatic does have a little more drivetrain loss, but with basic boltons and a a4/stall my car still did 350hp/365tq
