Default painted my muffler!

K so a couple days ago i pulled my muffler and the pipes off my car to fix a weld that cracked... while i had my muffler off i decided i wanted to paint it black
what to ya think? ...other than that my car needs a wash

right when i pulled it off...


washed and wet sanded it






while i had it off i saw the gas tank...



so i painted it too

i like how it turned out. too bad im not keepin this system much longer!

You do realize that you didn't paint the gas tank, you painted the bottom of the storage well.

i dont know what you used for paint, but i hope you dont daily drive it. mine looked good for a couple months, then peeled like crazy. looked like **** in no time.

Yeah, that was not the gas tank. . . LoL. . . .

I done this before with both, just regular rattle can paint and VHT.

The regular spray will last for a few months if that. The VHT or Barbecue type paint will last for a while.

I was thinking about doing this w/ ceramic coating spray paint... you guys think that'll be fine? I would only imagine that it'll be fine.

i was looking that like "wtf? that's not the gas tank. the gas tank is right behind the back seat"

as for whether or not it will last. how hot does the exhaust get compared to the intake manifold? My intake manifold has been painted with primer/base/clear high temp paint from autozone for almost 2 years and the paint looks fine.

I used header paint on my exhaust and sanded it down and it has been there for two years, minus some gravel/road debris chips.

Looks good!

is that a serious question? ive burnt the **** out of my hand being an idiot and touching someones exhaust tips after they drove around for an hour.

regardless i dont think it was heat that ruined my exhaust when i painted it. i used high temp paint and daily drove it through rain and salted roads. daily driving and painted exhaust dont mix.

thanks man! i just did the same thing as you and im not keepin it much longer anyways so i just want it to look good for a few months tops.. plus the thing looked terrible from all the dents it had. the black hides it better

it would flow good with your black tips ya got i think the ceramic would work.. DO IT and show some pics!
