You have to remove the top 4 screws that hold the plastic back of the seat on. There are 2 on top and two on the sides at the top of the articulating plastic pieces. Once you have those 4 screws off, you can pull back the back plastic piece and reach into the back of the seat. At the bottom of the headrest supports inside the seat are little clips. Pull those off and the headrest should come out.

I like the shape of the LT1 headrest better, but when I had an LT1 car, I kept pulling the headrests forward but they'd never stay there.

Finally tore them apart & drove a screw into each of them to hold them forward, then reinstalled them.

That is a good site for explanation of the differences.

I had the part numbers, but you can't buy them anymore. Believe me, I have tried. Your best bet would be to find a junked LT1 Trans Am or hop onto lt1tech.com and see if someone is willing to swap with you if you don't want your current ones. I didn't want to swap, I wanted to keep my originals, so I was lucky enough to find someone using LT1 seats in their hotrod they were building and didn't want the headrests. But if you are willing to swap, it is much easier.

It is much easier to just remove the covers. Lift the headrest up, not all the way out, but just up, and you will see a seam running on the under side. Start pulling it apart and you will see it is 1 plastic piece tucked into another plastic piece. I have one taken off at home and if you can't figure it out, I'll take a pic for ya!

They will stretch pretty well. I thought the same, just be a bit careful and try not to pull hard right where they are stiched. They will come off.

The dude that did them doesn't seem to be in business anymore. I sent him a hi res logo from which he fashioned the stencil and that was like almost 2 years ago. At present, the only person I know of -and I'm not sure if he's still in business or not but the website is still up - is this guy:

I found this web site www.headrestembroidery.com and wondering if anyone else had anything done with this company. It looks like he does great work. Dawg One is there anyway you can send me your hi res logo. The company needs one to make my head rest and the only one I could find was on the SLP site. Thanks and any replies would be great.

He just registered, this was his first post... and he's not on the sponsor list

giulio, I have removed your link from your signature. Please contact tony@ls1tech.com and/or john@ls1tech.com for information on how to become a paying sponsor of this website. Advertising posts from non-sponsors will be removed.

Oh, sorry. Some boards don't mind. I don't make enough on these to warrant paying for sponsorship. It's just a hobby. So if anyone is interested you'll have to email or pm me. Damn it.. cool news, wish I could have shared it!
