Just wondering, could a version be made to function more like a cowl hood to vent underhood heat? Ive honestly always wanted a shaker scoop but I'm going to be boosted
pretty soon and Id feel like a ricer if I put a functionless scoop on my car.

I figure you could have one with an open bottomed air box and no intake parts and it would basically accomplish that

You could run the tubing to the turbo from the scoop opening so it would take in air to the turbo Ive thrown around the idea of fi with a shaker and i think it would be a hell of a set up

Hey Mark, are you selling the part that replaces the original air filter/lid holder thing yet?

i still dont see the point to this. i mean, if you have a hole in your hood for the scoop to stick out of and it can be seen shaking from the outside thats cool. but underneath a cowl hood doesnt make sense to me personally.

The true point of the shaker box IS to cut a hole in a stock hood and have a shaker sticking out.

However, I am running one on my own car to draw cold air in from the cowl. The stock setup is RETARDED. You're air lid is right on top of the hot radiator AND sandwiched between it and the hood (so it just bakes).

I plan to run a temp gun on it soon but I already saw a drop in IAT temps....

Yup, just don't have on the site yet (same thing you see on my car). Raw $100 shipped, Powdered (Black, Red, Etc...) $125.

I do NOT have polished stainless version. If you want that, buy the BMR one it retails for $100 + shipping so about the same as our powdered after shipping.

I'm was wondering would the shaker work under a stock LT1 hood cause I'm planning on dropping an LS engine in my 97 camaro.

My shaker has been installed, however, it is now behaving somewhat oddly. Though the engine has 138000 miles it operated perfectly until I recieved the vehicle back from the body shop yesterday (it was there for about 3 weeks). When parked and idling the engine speed tends to fluctuate from 500 to about 700. It sometimes has a hard time maintaining even that speed and starts to drop below 500. The engine has completely died on me twice at idle and once while reversing at low speed with the AC running. It never behaved this way before. I looked over the installation and haven't noticed anything wrong with it. I let the car idle without the just the airbox (shaker and air filter removed) and it still behaved this way. Any ideas what could be wrong? The only other issue I came across was I noticed one of the four threaded parts on the airbox that the bolts screw into was somehow torn in half (perhaps overtightened). I only have 3 of the 4 bolts securing my shaker now. The shaker looks and sounds cool. With the window down you can actually hear the air sucking into it at times.

Are you sure all the wires (MAF, IAT, etc...) are plugged in? I almost forgot mine... Also make sure there is no air leaks (hoses on correct and tightened).

Any pics?

I do have pics but for some reason can't seem to get them posted on here. Looks like everything is plugged in and tight. I might take the whole thing apart and reasemble myself when I have time. I don't understand why it would have any problems. The only difference to your original design is they raised the airbox a few inches higher. I'm suprised how many people think it came from the factory with it (they don't realize it's an aftermarket modification).

Check where the elbow connects to the throttle body. On my car I noticed the TB has a flash/casting that I had to notch the elbow for otherwise the elbow would not have sealed properly.

If yours is the same, you need to notch it the same way the factory piece was otherwise you will suck in extra air there, AFTER the MAF, and definitely have a rough running engine...

I disassembled the kit this morning and found that the elbow that connects to the throttle body was barely attached. I corrected this issue and reinstalled the MAF as I found the body shop had installed it backwards. It starts and idles much better now. I'm going to take it for a drive and see how it performs.
