idk if id go back to that shop...

On a slightly related note, I felt like showing off, and since some people want a better idea of how air gets from outside the car to the intake itself, so...

It goes in where you can see through to the boxes.

When parked and idling the engine speed tends to fluctuate from 500 to about 700. It sometimes has a hard time maintaining even that speed and starts to drop below 500. The engine has completely died on me twice at idle and once while reversing at low speed with the AC running. It never behaved this way before. I looked over the installation and haven't noticed anything wrong with it. I let the car idle without the just the airbox (shaker and air filter removed) and it still behaved this way. Any ideas what could be wrong? The only other issue I came across was I noticed one of the four threaded parts on the airbox that the bolts screw into was somehow torn in half (perhaps overtightened). I only have 3 of the 4 bolts securing my shaker now. The shaker looks and sounds cool. With the window down you can actually hear the air sucking into it at times.
My car does that all the time. Whoever installed it disconnected the battery for an extended period of time, and the car was simply relearning idle. Completely normal and nothing to be concerned about, although it is odd that my car does it even when I didn't disconnect the battery. Oh well....

The test drive was great. Drove it for about 5 hours today in town and on the interstate.

I took another long drive in the car today and again no issues to report. Everything worked perfectly. I definetely recommend this kit. After I installed it correctly it functions great.

Ok here are a couple photos. I tried to post them before but was unable to for some reason. I got it too work this time. I'll post a close up of the hood closed once I get my new screaming chicken decal installed. It should be here any day now.

My shaker is currently on a custom mount, not on 6LE's yet so my STB is not in the way today. My airbox is on order and the STB will gave to go.

There are plastic plugs attached to the rubber weather strip that attach to holes in the shaker scoop. Some weatherstrip adhesive was also used to help seal it. The shaker scoop is an original from a 1979 and the weatherstrip is a stock reproduction part.

Cool! I pinched a nerve in my neck/shoulder and can't move so well, I hope that improves and I can get the box installed by the 18th. I have a cookout/show/cruise-in that I'd like to show it off.
