1st time using claybar, PIC'S
1st time using claybar, PIC'S I just got done using a Meguiars clay bar kit on my DD (06'Chrysler 300) and man did the dirt come off.The claying process is pretty easy,and you WILL feel the dirt come off,that you couldn't see after I washed the car.
The kit came with a sealer as well.I thought I would get some practice for when I order the kit from AutoGeek (just dont know which one).
So far I have down:
Wash with a good car soap,dry,clay bar,seal.Where does the swirl&scratch remover come in at in this process ?
I know that there are good detailer's out there that get a good $ to do what they do but I want to learn how to do it myself and take a lil' pride in my work.Also a detailer does it day in and day out and sometimes might not take ownership in every car he/she does.That would make me want to do the best job I can and am only going to be doing one car.In return when I get good enough,I should have no excuse in having my car's apperance not up to my liking.
Here are a few pic's I took after doing my DD this afternoon (washed,dried,clay bar,sealed).Turned out alright.But then again the Black WS6 is where the real fun will begin!

I just used a Clay bar for my first time a couple weeks ago. Same meguires kit you got. I'm just PISSED No One EVER told me how Easy and How Amazingly it WORKS!!! I started out just doin the black on my hood due to bad contamanents, but before i knew it I'd done the entire top half of car!!! LOL LOVE IT!!!!
I just knead it and fold it onto itself to get a clean side. When you can no longer get a clean side, I throw it away. I usually split up a bar into 6 pieces. I do not the entire bar at once. I have seen that done before. If you every drop it, do not re-use it. It will pick up dirt, etc that can't be seen and will scratch the finish.
A Daily Driver that sits outside all the time, should be clayed every so many months. A good way to know IF you need to do that is take a larger plastic bag, put your hand in it and then run it over the surface. If you feel bumps then you have contamination.
Sad part is most of the time you never "See" contamination but you can feel it.

i used it too a little while ago and i def felt a difference. my hand pretty much slid all over the spoiler. but then i dropped the bar =(

Depending on the condition of the paint I use 1/6th of a bar per car. If it's a large vehicle that is in bad shape it "might" take an entire bar. Two bars would be plenty. Just keep kneading the bar and folding it over to get a clean side.

yep .. Also .. when you get a new bar, cut it into a couple of pieces before you start. that way when you drop it, you only lose theportion you dropped, not the whole bar.
