Question What pads would YOU choose for m105/205?

It's about time for me to replace my pads. I have been using a Porter Cable 7424xp with 105 on an orange pad, followed by 205 on a black pad. This combo has been working well, but I feel it probably isn't the optimal option. What pads would YOU choose to use with the Meguiar's twins on our hard GM paint?

What kind of pads were you using? Lake Country or generic pads? What color is your car?

a yellow lake country will be more agressive then a purple foam wool pad.

I used the LCC hydro tang and blue pads. They seemed to hold up well.

As far as matching the compound to the pad, I'd say you're pretty good with the 105 on an orange and the 205 on a black pad. If you're thinking you're leaving a little on the table with the 205, you could try the Green lake county pad they've got now. It offers a little cut, but not a lot.

Personally I'd do the green then a top coat of a sealant/glaze with a gold foam pad. Menzerna FMJ has gotten me hooked on using that as a final layer, usually putting 2 layers on, which is unnecessary, but it just looks so dang good when it's done

Yellow is a little over kill IMO for correcting. For oxidation, yes.

That's just me and my personal preference. You should have no problems using that combo ( to the OP)

FWIW, my $.02 lake country Orange pad for M105 and lake county white pad for M205 as is the common consensus on autopia.org too, YMMV

Using the orange pad would net you less hazing. I'd give that a shot and see how you feel about it.

THat yellow pad is pretty rough.

Stick with the orange pads and M105. I'd use white or black with M205 depending on what needs to be accomplished.
