Default Killer New Hood design available at VFN!!!

Before I dig in to the information about the hood itself, I wanted to take a moment to send a HUGE *** Thanks!! to Qcon -
Thanks to Q's imagination and patience, we have been able to be a part of this kick *** project! And bring this amazing hood to life!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Q!!!

So with that in mind, We are extremely happy to announce - The BRAND NEW WSQ hood for the Firebirds!!!

Here's some pictures:

Now, please keep in mind that this is work in progress and NOT the finished product, these are pictures of our Prototype.
The hood is not bolted in place on the car and is only sat into place so that we can work on the design.
Everything will be bolted down prior to releasing the hood to ensure a great fit!

This will be a functional hood working with your airbox and we will add mesh screen into the openings on the nostrils.

This hood is not for sale just yet, so I do not have any available pricing or availability information nor can we take an order just yet (sorry!). But it will be available soon!!
We are just extremely excited about this project and wanted to see how other members felt about it - along with giving Q some major props on this kick *** hood design!!!

I like the nostrils & the heat extractors, but not so sure on the center area.
What's the purpose of those openings?
Are they functional?
Any way you can do the hood wihout those?
(Yea, I know, then it's just another 'SuperHawk' style hood. But that should sell also.)

Good to see one of the vendor get on board & produce such a hood!

Thanks!!

These openings are completely functional.
they will draw air both into and out of the airbox.

I am sorry, but I do not believe we will be offering this hood without those center vent sections

that^. the center sections don't flow extremely well with the rest of the hood/car, their lines are too straight. every other body line is very curved. i think they'd look better if reshaped to flow more

First, thanks for VFN for both choosing my design and also following through with a thread they posted here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...signs-vfn.html where I first threw up my sketches. As a car geek, it's especially cool to see something built that was once only a thought in your head. For the design, I wanted the nostrils to flow with the bumper better than existing hoods and kept the curved characteristics of the car. I also wanted larger heat extractors to pull more air out, similar to the Mecham hood, but maintaining the tunnel characteristic of the WS6 hood which don't flare to the A-pillars. Because of the center extractors, VFN increased the cowl size to I believe 4" from where I sketched it, but being biased, I think it does look killer. Here's the original sketch of the hood. VFN has been a real pleasure to work with and I hope you all enjoy the hood as much as I do.

definetly sweet, i like the idea of rounding the edges of the center heat extractors to flow a little better...

I suppose these will be a 98-02 only. It would be really nice, if there was a LT1 hood out there with heat extractors. During the summer I can actually feel the heat from my headers radiating through the firewall.

one thing to remember is we already have the Ws9, which is very similar with the heat extractors on the sides, what were doing is something completely different than what is offered, alot of people over the years have asked us to reproduce the mecham style hoods, However we are not in the business of simply copying what is already available, and we really like the idea that Qcon presented, so keep this in mind everyone, what your seeing is a picture of an almost finished product that will be available soon and this thing looks F#*@in amazing in person and Pictures do not do it justice,we realize it may not be everyones cup of tea but we bet when you see it YOU WILL

We're not out of new LT1 designs just yet.
If you have any ideas of what you'd like to see on a hood...we're open for suggestions

I'm assuming they went with WSQ since the original designer/artist's name is Qcon.
