98-02 Camaro Black Headlights
Hey everyone, so I have been looking for a little while now for black housing headlights. I don't want the projectors or halos, but the ones like on 6LE car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

just looked through a bunch of them. Never knew that it was called that. stupid noob
Oh well, gotta learn sometime right? Thanks so much for your help brother. I would love to see a picture of your car with the whistler since it is also black. Seems most of the pictures I seen, the cars were blue, or white, or red, or pretty much any color other than black.

man that looks good. The link in your sig doesn't work, I tried that before asking you to post pics. I wish you the best of luck with the sell. Looks like a great car. I take it you used flat black as the paint?

thanks for the heads up about my sig, ill have to fix that... i actually used high temp gloss black on the headlights. its hard to tell withthe glare in those pics, but they are gloss black, i wanted them to match the body paint more, i think it flows a little better than a flat black would.

no offense brother, but i absolutely hate those. Those are the projectors i was talking about that I didn't want. To each their own, and looks like you have a super nice car, i just personally hate the headlights

My thoughts exactly with the gloss. What did you use to scuff the chrome? Did you use any spray adheasive(sp?) or anything like that? What RTV did you use?

I taped off the chrome reflectors first and used steel wool to do all the scuffing. You don't have to remove all the visible chrome, just make sure its scuffed so the paint will stick. I removed most of the chrome on the more flat sections, but some remained on the textured sections. I then used some micro fiber towels to remove all the plastic dust, although I'm sure using an air compressor, like you mentioned, would work fine. I also removed as much of the old silicone sealer as possible because the paint will not stick to it. I painted about 2 coats of gloss black on each headlight, let them dry for a day, and used BLACK RTV sealant to re-attach the lenses.
I would also HIGHLY recommend that you paint or cover the bottom part of the lens with black vinyl (what I did), otherwise it will stick out like a sore thumb! I have a couple pics to illustrate what I am referring to if you want to see them.

blacked out with VHT nightshade. made them blend right in.
this. this. this. Make Sure you paint the bottom part of the lens before you reassemble the light. You will be pissed with yourself if you forget this, because it sticks out like a sore thumb and really ruins the look. I did that the first time i tried the whistler mod
