Excuse my car's filthy appearance in these pics

What happens when you forget this step:

How it looks when painted: much better obviously

You'll want to sand down the texture on that area of the lens, so the paint sticks... And maybe use some masking tape to protect the inside of the lens while sanding

Also, before you put masking tape on the chrome reflectors, make sure to stick it to your jeans or touch it with your fingers first. Otherwise it will be too sticky and can take off some of the chrome..

I'e been thinking about doing this for awhile and have never seen this tip. I'm sure it's been said before but I'm glad i saw it now!

yeah, plenty of people pulled the reflective chrome material right off with the tape, so you should take the extra precaution, especially if you're using stock lights still.

thanks again guys. I just ordered the smoked turn signals for the front and rear, tail lights and rims will be done soon enough. This mod is really going to set everything off!

actually theres low stick tape out there that dosent have as much adhesive on em as regular tape i guess you can say and you can also put the tape on your blue jeans and thatll take some of the adhesive off to so its not as strong

^^^ i just used blue painters tape, and put it on my fingers a little bit so it wouldnt be as sticky, but i had ZERO issues with it pulling the chrome off. i also taped them off before i started scuffing, so i wouldnt scuff the "good" chrome. i htink i also did like three coats of paint, no clear coat, but if i were to do it again, i might use a clear.

These have popped up on ebay again recently. If you don't want to go through with doing the full whistler mod. These appear to be the semi whistlered headlights that were available a few years ago.

those look pretty killer! Been wanting to do the whistler mod myself, but have read some (few) horror stories .. Don't want to chance it, that might be a viable alternative, thanks!

6LE is selling whistler headlights? I couldn't find them on their site, but if they do that's awesome
